dVerse Poets

I chose the phrase: “You talkin’ to me?” — from Taxi Driver (1976)

***

I love the movies

Sit in the dark

The theme starts playing

Creates a spark

Senses aware and my eyes are glued

Then the couple beside me start being rude

“You talking’ to me?” One of them said…

No place to move so I’m stuck with dread

My money spent, theater full

So I gave them a look.

Then his companion answered in kind

Never occurred someone might mind

This went on and no one was inclined

To tell them “be quiet”, and we’re all confined

Finally I answered his question’s intrude

“Yes I’m talking to you and you’re being rude.”

  1. My partner complains that I don’t talk enough about what we are watching on TV – I blame it on Gogglebox (where select regulars are filmed commenting on their watch) which is all very well at home but the cinema is a temple and you did right Cheryl…

  2. You go, Girl! It is inevitable there will be at least one jerk in every audience. I’m sure the rest of the folks around were cheering for you silently. I love how you wrote to that quote, Cheryl.
