Joe shook off the snow on his umbrella and left it by the door. The murder scene had already been visited by the forensics team and he could investigate at will. He tried not to assume this was another gamer’s demise, even though Jerry, the victim, was sitting with a controller remote on his lap. Looking around the room, Joe spied a few gaming trophies the young man had won. This might have just been a crime of passion, or jealousy, but there was evidence suggesting more. A book listing gaming tournaments and Jerry’s passport meant this teenager was going to travel overseas to compete. The intended destination offered a sizable prize for the winner of the competition. Joe concluded that this was a crime perpetrated in order to take Jerry’s place in the competition. Unfortunately for the murderer, he was the prime suspect. After Joe confronted him, he started crying and confessed. Another puzzle solved.
