Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to choose one of these options: recall an experience you’ve had where you’ve asked for a sign, or came upon a sign unasked-for, and interpreted it and write a poem about the experience, preferably in first person.

Feeling depressed as we all do at times
Sat in the cloudy garden, hoping for a sign
A sign that things were not so bad
That a change in my life could be had
Lighting upon the gardening things
A beautiful dragonfly stopped his wings
I asked if he’d come to visit me
He then turned and lit on my knee
A coincidence you might say
I prefer ‘twas a sign to chase away the gray.

Dragonflies are wonderful; I’ve been watching them throughout summer and am sad that I won’t see them again until next year. I do have a necklace with one as well as two brooches, so will have to make do with them. I agree that yours was ‘a sign to chase away the gray’, Cheryl.

Cheryl, especially liked those last 2 lines. To me, as it did to you, it seems clear the visit was to “chase away the gray.”

We have two kinds of dragonflies here, tiny pastel blue or green ones that like to land on bright colored floaties while we’re playing in the lake, that are fun when they land on you, and the really big ones that I think would be a bit scary if they landed on my knee. Either way, fun to watch flying, and definitely a good sign.
