Only a sliver, she professed at the table
Spoken by marvelous Mable
A delight in her manner and smile
Even though all the while
Her so called friends turned their backs
Standing envious in a pack
Gossiping that Mable had a serious diet lack.

Poor Mabel… sounds like she had a better diet than those gossiping “friends”

Oh dear, Cheryl, poor Mable needs to find new friends. I’m diabetic and really should have only a sliver of most things. I like how Mable keeps smiling, even when those envious friends turn their backs.

I had the same reaction as Miriam.
Humor and sadness both.

At first I smiled at the mention of marvelous Mable, wonderful wordplay – and then, I felt sorry for her… false friends are the worst. Great quadrille!
