The closet door
Hiding who knows what
She heard the squeak
Not wanting to see more
But plied the hinge
With liberal oil
Thought “whatever lurks
I can foil!“
Her mind spoke, “are you mad?”
Then it jumped out, raggedy clad
It’s voice uttered, “glad you’re here
I’ve been stuck inside for years
A wonder I’ve not met my end
If not for rats I’d be death wend”
She stood aback, not really scared
And helped it, happy to be aired
“I’ll call an ambulance”, she murmured
But it ran away as her eyes averted
When her husband came, he fixed a lock
No more would creatures be in that box.
