From early buckled shoes to stiletto heels
From the ruffing of long cotton gown hems
To mini skirts and white go-go boots
Skipping up the stones to a Beatles tune
From the tapped scratches of sword tips
To the swipe of earphone wires dragged behind a teenager
Do not straighten away or replace these stones
These steps hold history and should be respected as such.
