Marguerite hurriedly packed her bags, her anticipation palpable. Only the bare necessities she smiled, thinking she’d barely need those! She had waited for his invitation a while. They had talked of it, dreamed about an exotic trip, but it was all fantasy. . .until today. She had never thought about Zanzibar, only seen it in movies or posters, but now. . .her excitement grew.
Joe was trying to figure out if he should take the revolver if he needed it but didn’t want to raise suspicion on M’s part. She was his lover–in theory. It was all a planned ruse by Joe to accomplish this last job. The boss had found the man who had the photo, now Joe had to find the maps.
The once lost city was there in Zanzibar, the photo proved it. Obtaining the secret inside the old structure would require his special abilities. M knew nothing of his career, thinking he was an actuary for the government, certainly not a 007 operative.
Joe was in “attraction” with Marguerite, but any long term relationships were not in any spy’s future. However, M provided the perfect shill for this mission. He would play the lover for a few days while vacationing on the island. To her, the ancient building would be looked upon as a tourist attraction.
It shouldn’t take too long to find the map scrolls he was sent to find and sneak back to join her. All was going as planned he thought, as he walked from the airport taxi to her door to start their trip. She was the perfect cover. He almost felt sorry for her.
