I was sitting with a Sunday attitude

Barely removed my nightly snood

Thought I’d take in some mindless boobtube

When the phone rang asking if one of the grand brood

Could spend the day–had to get up my fortitude

Caring for kids isn’t “baby”sitting

It sure beats rocking and knitting

I said yes and was resolute

In fact it’s usually quite a hoot

Playing games with no refute

No cheating allowed, that is resolute.

Sorry, Scrabble, Pitch and Rummy

He learns fast, played brilliantly

Used my own hints against me

Till I had an epiphany, thought differently.

He still won two against three

In Scrabble. I received no sympathy.
