Nowdays people make such a fuss

Over stuff like detritus

Myself, I would have to agree

We don’t act environmentally

Everything is packaged in plastic

Trying to undo makes you drastic

For scissors or hammer

Not very glamorous

But seriously, my hands are old

And with this weather, usually cold

Resulting in opening those zip locked containers

Well you’d think it would be a no-brainer

Frustration sets in on minutes fifteen

When trying to open this clear canteen

Supposedly easy and convenient to handle

I may have to light a serenity candle!

Meditation over a plastic bag

You ask, what’s with this old hag?

It’s simple enough to open the bag

Maybe it’s patience she seems to lag

But everything bottled or wrapped

Packaged and/or vacuum packed

Causes way too much trash

Even adds to spending your cash.

I hope for kids’ sake we’ll start to conserve

And give them a world that they deserve.
