#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan 24th Elusive

Trying to be sexy in a wheelchair.

Well it’s not easy, even if you care

To dress nicely, “do” your hair

Wear some makeup, it’s still there.

I’m talking about the chair.

People assume your brain’s not tracking

Even though it’s just standing that’s lacking.

They look around to see if you’re alone,

As if you need someone to atone

Just because you have to sit

Doesn’t mean you can’t do it –

Whatever they’re thinking. We’re not so elusive

In fact, the chair makes us quite exclusive.

So remember the next time you see a person like me

Keep in mind the outside is not all you can see.

  1. I don’t define you will illness or a wheelchair, your that lovely, funny, so intelligent woman with the weirdest neighbors upstairs. 🙄

    1. As an ovarian cancer survivor, I also started my blog with the thoughts I would convey what I’d learned about my diagnosis and recovery. I found once I started writing, I’m actually not very comfortable with sharing all the details. It’s a lot of hurt, pain, acceptance. While I thought of myself as very forthright, perhaps even a bit too blunt, I found that my writing is stunted when dealing with that experience on my blog. I’m writing about that experience with good ‘ole pen and paper. While I like to keep the idea on my blog, my writing on my blog is more for me — instead of about me. Finding your own groove, your own voice…that’s what I’m enjoying about blogging. Hats off to you — you are truly in my thoughts as we each deal with our illnesses, our triumphs and crashes, in our own time, in our own way. Good luck to you!
