MLMM Wordle Bonus

Hoping for a blue ribbon

The sticky jar of apple pie filling placed on the wobbly wooden table

Crinkle of foil taken off baked pie entries

The tent welcomed, exclaimed respite from the heat on cool bluegrass

County fair tractor pull contestants holler as tires churn the soil

Jarred filling won the second prize –

Admission to my favorite, the carousel.

Word of the Day: Nearly

Image: DeviantArt

I nearly fell! The bridge was narrow and long with no railing. I heard the the wood creaking under my weight. Here and there boards were missing, but no faltering here. Stepping carefully, making the right footfalls made all the difference. I paused and looked back over the deep chasm, realizing I had accomplished what I thought impossible. This challenge over, I moved forward to another.

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt

It rang again. Odd sound, the old ringer with extra long chime. I don’t hear a sound like that anymore. Now it’s all cell phones with television show themes or rude remarks, even jokes. The bar itself was a relic and the phone fit well in the decor.

I knew who it was, I just didn’t want to pick up. They knew where I’d be. The problem with these old phones is they don’t give up. They just keep ringing incessantly, driving you to finally hold the receiver up to your ear to answer. Finally I just held it close but said nothing.

The voice I expected was talking, not caring to hear my reply. My hearing them would be enough and they knew it. The news was bad, heartbreaking in fact, so sorrowful my throat closed up and I couldn’t have said anything even if I wanted to.

It’s too late, the voice repeated, it’s too late, don’t come, you’re not needed anymore. You’re always too late. You should have been here to say goodbye.

It was my choice not to answer quickly. I do not regret my decision, but I will have another drink.

FOWC: Snide

Reading to children

At a young age

I used to use voices to help engage

Imagination to see characters from the page

Their favorites from Roald Dahl

Snide role playing most fun of all

Most of his books had lessons to teach

Such as, “James and the Giant Peach”.

One of the greatest things you can do as a parent is read to your kids.

It’s Official

Living in an apartment, bottom floor, I have two apartments stacked above me.

Unfortunately their schedule is different. This building is all single bedroom apartments and mostly inhabited by single people. Most of these people are first responders or military. This means they sometimes keep odd hours.

Waking up at 3-4 am is not bad, I can go back to bed, not always to sleep. I am quiet during the daytime unless laughing with one of my grandkids who are visiting. Even then we obey the to “10 pm to 8 am be quiet” rules.

I’m never sure of anyone’s schedule except when I hear someone snoring from above.😄

So yesterday it was official, the guy above works nights! At least I’m not this guy:

So how’s your weekend going?
