Word of the Day: Crisis

How big, how important

Must it be

To use the word crisis now daily

There is good news every day in this world

Yet good news is never hurled

At us morning noon and night,

For these revelations we must fight.

Fear certainly takes its toll

Worldly news plays a big role

Remaining positive to save your soul

Trying to bounce back from fear is the goal.

Freedom

Oh to enjoy the freedom of my childhood once again. Walking over meadows, stretching up to climb big stone formations, being king of my surroundings, or laying among wildflowers imagining I was a princess in need of rescue. Childhood for many is a true gift, and only the reality of life boxes you in as an adult.

To hear barefoot slaps on hard brown dirt roads, squeals of conquest in the top of a tree, winded excitement of a thrilling long steep sled ride on crusted snow, laughter spying unsuspecting cousins with a pea shooter, evening grass lay abouts, watching stars, smelling new hay stacked in the barn–all of these are delights of my childhood.

Virus Panic

It would be helpful to all involved

If actual facts of this virus evolved

We can visualize people in panic

With such varying information, people are manic

Outbreaks, school closings seem to abound

Wish we had info that’s sound.

(Panic has come to Denver where toilet paper is nowhere to be found. 😱. As for me, scarcities in the grocery but my daughter persevered, and I have my monthly larder filled.

Thank Heavens for Indoor Plumbing!

Morning comes with no sleep prior to two. At four cars are warming up, ice is being scraped off windshields, garbage trucks arrive at five or six, and the morning begins. Reluctantly rising from warm coverings, a finally relaxed comfortable body stretches and throws off the remnants of comfort. The first priority is always the **loo, an English word I prefer to bathroom, and then a wash and trip to the kitchen for coffee.

Not really an exciting time, but enjoyable as I warm my hands with the hot mug, and open the iPad to read the news, and more importantly, what lovely words have been written by fellow bloggers. Then I visit prompts and challenges. By the time I’m finished, morning has disappeared.
