“No taxation without representation” is true today, even though it in 1215, it was an early step to prevent a king from taxing without consent. In the 1760s it became a slogan for American colonists against the British. Before this time, King Charles I used a “ship tax” on the coastal communities in times of war. Wages and income were not considered. Today I feel we have a king that cares not where taxes come from, he just wants money for his golden residence.
Little Joe Smith had his head in a book as usual, and suddenly something told him to look up! “Hey, dad, look at that! The red light is doing Morse code!”
“Don’t be silly, Joe, but that would be a great joke on someone…”
“It’s no joke, dad, it’s spelling out a warning! It’s saying, go home to your shelter, they’re coming!” At that point the light turned green and Joe’s dad never saw it coming.
“Another American family caught, sir.” They were never seen again.
I’d like you to start from wherever you are and write a poem “wandering from room to room like a man in a museum.” Notice your surroundings. Take a walk around. Be curious about what is happening. Perhaps write about ordinary things or things that you might not ordinarily notice. End your poem with an open-ended question as Garcia does, incorporating characteristics of some of the things you’ve observed earlier in your poem. If you’re new, here is how to join us: Write a poem in response to the prompt. Enter your name and a link directly to the post containing your poem into Mr. Linky. Remember to check the box to accept use/privacy policy. Read other poets’ work as they enter their links into Mr. Linky. Check back as more will be added. Please link back to dVerse from your post. Have a wonderful time!

2. What is the most unpleasant to you: onions, garlic, smells of the country, personal hygiene. Personal hygiene
3. What is the most annoying: a continuously barking dog, whiny bratty children, loud music, bad language. Barking dog . 4. What is most likely to make you smile: kittens/puppies, toddlers splashing in puddles, a baby’s smile, an elderly couple holding hands. Baby’s smile
Gratitude: I am grateful my granddaughter is now settled in her dorm, even though she has been sick. Today was the first morning soccer practice and being stuffed up made it hard, but she’ll do it! She never backs down!

“The future gathers in vine, bush, and tree: Persimmon, walnut, loquat, fig, and grape”and of all these lush delights, I choose the grape. A single grape dangling delicately from a group, is delicious on its own. Each green orb harvesting into red, purple, or blue, is much more interesting than a walnut or fig. Wineries take these bunches of grapes and transform them into delectable liquid forms. Different sizes and colors of the grape determine which luscious wine is made. Juices, jellies, jams, all can be made from this flavorful fruit, as their growing, harvested, their future is decided.
“Your chariot awaits, madam”, the young servant said. He gestured for Mary to step into the golf cart. Mary had just started managing at this club and found it easy to coordinate with the staff. A runner flew by them, doing his own type of exercise and Mary’s face colored a bit, thinking she should not be using a cart to get around the club. The value of seeing a manager also working out was worth it. Although Mary got most of her own exercise by walking her dog, she thought she would add something new to her routine, such as Pilates.
