My mood is blue
collapsed here in a circle
stretching inner unrest
looking inside, not out
he wants the pink
the softness I can be
not today
blue is how I feel
no compromise in me
not today

W3 Prompt #173: Wea’ve Written Weekly

I’m going with iPad, because I had the latest update and now everything’s blooey! Of course it couldn’t be my fault that I have to resign into WP or the fact that the annoying paragraph symbol or whatever it is shows up, divides the screen and doesn’t let me see what I’m typing…an annoyance that does not go away.
Another pad I have to use is one to cushion my sore heel. It’s been eight months of treatments and we’re finally seeing some improvement. However, it aches and I’m supposed to keep it up and have no pressure on it. Try that for just a day, such fun…And a reminder that if you or a loved one has to be in bed for a while, remember to check their feet. This could have been prevented if I’d had reliable nursing at a rehab in January. Don’t get me started on the hell hole that facility was but has the reputation of the “best in Cheyenne”. Details available if you have a need to know, I hope you never do. I guess those are the only pads I can think of unless the “pad” I live in😃
Have an excellent weekend!

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Aug. 23, 2025

Norse sagas, Latin and Medieval poetry, love songs emote such questioning which has a name: ubi sunt (where are they) a term taken from the longer Latin phrase, Ubi sunt qui ante nos fuerunt (where are those who were before us)?
And our MTB prompt today is simply to use this Ubi Sunt motif in your poetry as such:
***
where are they
minions of the past
rebels true
unafraid
where are these brave purveyors
we need them – come back

MTB: Ubi Sunt and that Where, Oh Where?

Roadworks and wind caused traffic to go at a millipede pace. I wanted to sit at the warm bar, drinking my favorite beer, “Tarot Told”. I tightened my scarf against the cold, grabbed my laptop in case I was suddenly inspired, and stepped into the warm bar. Their Wi-Fi was down too, darn!

Can You Tell A Story In…

I took the upgrade
They kept insisting
A wax, polish and shine
From the Apple design.
I finally let them and now can’t see
Many prompt offerings, just a melee
It’s frustrating while the “upgrade” is firing
And I’m left to search for things
Maybe I should be retiring 😳🥴😵💫

Courage doesn’t always have to be standing on the battlefield, or going to the hospital for cancer treatments, or any other huge event. It can be smaller and simpler in our eyes, but monumental in the person.
My granddaughter has courage. She has excelled at leadership, honesty and integrity but four days ago she met a big challenge for a young woman who is loved deeply by her family and always “came home“. This week she is at college about five hours away and the whole family misses her spark, as she in turn had to take the steps alone with courage, missing us. We are very proud of all she is and all she will become.

This Week’s Writer’s Workshop Prompts: August 21. 2025

They say eyes are windows to the soul…how can that be true when clever cons are committed everyday against trusting people who think attention and a supposed friendly smile fool them? Even comparing windows that are alluring but false can have a disturbing effect on a child or grandmother. The truth of this is laid out in the frauds committed by so-called preachers, car salesmen, politicians and dictators. If you voted for Trump could you see through his dishonesty – a window into his soul might be so black it is blighted.
