It was a niggle, a nudge, a suggestion to make me budge. I was growing too comfortable in these snowy cold times and just stayed on my bed, writing rhymes. But today I thought enough was enough, started sorting my Christmas stuff. I’m wrapping, storing, checking supplies. Do I have enough paper, ribbons and ties? I’m almost done, and by the way, it really was fun.

Time to slog
Walking the dog
Through snowy bog and smog
City life I do not hog, being one of the cogs
I much prefer a cabin in front of burning logs.

What a beautiful sight, I’m zapped
House cleaned, all presents wrapped
I had to lionize my body and mind
Was putting it off, getting behind
But now feeling jovial, thought I would share
And write a short note to myself to compare
For next year to read and give advice
Cleaning is naughty but completed is nice.

Storm was supposed to be mini, turned out maxi! And it is cold!

Grandchildren want to propine a gift
Thinking I’m sitting alone in my shift
I declined the offer of some kitties
As I sung my distaste with a ditty
Proclaiming my preference to be alone
Besides, a large dog is all I’d ever own
Animals, birds, or even a fish
Having none of these is my wish.

If I had the money
I’d help you, honey
With a franchise of fairies
To ease troubles you carry.
They would not be shy
In their efforts to try
To relieve problems, varied
And help in this time so harried.

The splash unexpected
My mom suspected
I had to throw down
She saw cookies I drowned
Showed my guilt in eating the stacks
Of the Oreo snacks
It’s my favorite choice
But hearing mom’s voice
I think a problem’s detected.
