Shakespeare said it well

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? (Sonnet 18)

William Shakespeare – 1564-1616

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou grow’st.
    So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
    So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

MLMM Photo Challenge 6-15-21

Joe had tried everything to get out of his post pandemic slump. Yoga, jogging, tennis, even bicycling to mountain tops. Physically he had gotten into great shape and lost the pandemic pounds, but mentally he was just a mushy green blob.

The Music Man

You might say he was a spruiker

Stopping at small town junctures

Offering callithumpian advice

At an extraordinary price.

Never wanting love, a lonely man

Until he met Marian,

The librarian.

dVerse Poets Quadrille – Smudge

***

Most people think cleaning’s a drudge

Getting rid of every small smudge

Raspberry jam, even sneaker mud

But it doesn’t have to be a dud

No one likes to see sludge

So get on with it, don’t begrudge

Wear white gloves, be the judge!

(Afterwards we might have some fudge!☺️)
