MLMM First Line Friday

***

Being the life of the party, Joe was a popular guy at work. If anyone seemed down for any reason, Joe could cheer them up. Behind this persona, the real Joe was a lonely man, had no children to brighten his off work hours and a miserable home life with a woman who no longer loved him.

When Joe came home in the evening he tried to maintain that false identity. It culminated in a depression that his mind couldn’t handle. The problem with a mask is sometimes you forget to take it off.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Share Your World – 11-19-18

***

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and I clarify that we do not do shopping on black friday. Our day after T is setting up the Christmas tree and other decorations. It’s usually a quick visit from out of town loved ones and we spend it together at home. We are all very thankful when we’re able to be together.

1. Since I have new apartment neighbors on an early 4 am schedule, I’m automatically awake at four and go to bed around ten.

2. I write here on the blog. I read, watch movies and play a couple of word games. I love games in general and play Scrabble, Trivia, Sorry and lots of card games; also teaching my grandson Canasta. I am lucky at cards! If anyone has opinions, they don’t share them. ; )

3. I would ask, “didn’t I see you in “Happy Feet”?”

4. Never. However, I’m unduly influenced since I just watched the movie”Life” last night. Is it just me or is every movie scientist discovering alien beings just plain stupid? Sorry, I need coffee before I speak.

I had a fun time with family this weekend and for that I am always grateful.

Have a great week and give thanks – it makes you and everyone else feel great!

Eugi’s Weekly Prompt – Shadows

***

As November darkens the daylight

Harvest moons shine

Tired broken cornstalks cast eerie shadows

Odd pumpkins not chosen lay rotting in the field

Frost covers the last greenery

Small animals forage for storing

Soon all will be dusted with snow.

Thanksgiving

***

The tempo quiets as the last dish is cleared and the grunge of cleanup begins. The mostly male visitors avouch their status sleepily stretched out on the sofa and recliners digesting their over indulgence of turkey. This scene will continue until the final football game is over and people begin packing up their early Christmas presents for their journey home. The start of the holidays begins, anticipating the old year’s end.

RDP- Palisade

Freddy Cannon recorded Palisades Park in 1962. I remember dancing to it, but the writer’s name might bring back a few memories, Chuck Barris😊

Charles Hirsch Barris was an American game show creator, producer, and host. Barris was known for hosting The Gong Show and creating The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game. He was also a songwriter who wrote “Palisades Park”, recorded by Freddy Cannon. Wikipedia

Holiday Anxiety

Choosing his favorite comfy sweater, Jules’ customary feeling of being ungainly was just another prelude to the approaching Thanksgiving holiday. Why he could not achieve that particular ataraxia his siblings had, he didn’t fully understand. Jules thought his childhood memories were pleasant, and he maintained a relationship with his parents; however each autumn, the anxiety began. He packed his bag with an uneasy reluctance.
