White and gray clouds seemed to tangle in the hot breeze as we climbed into cooling branches, hoping for a reprieve from summer heat waves. The sky was sewing seeds of rain and the thunderstorm was coming. Streams of lightning teeth bleed into the dark sky and we begin to think that a tree is not the boon of safety we hoped. We tried to time our get away between the bright streaks and made it safely to the cabin porch.

Labyrinth is a perfect description of the USA today. That’s what I was going to write about, until I typed the word today and it even showed up on the list above the keyboard. Apparently some form of TODAY takes precedent in the WordPress vernacular and it refused to print it out without a capital T. Okay, a minor inconvenience in the scope of living in the USA today (hey, I guess it gave up after I retyped it five times) but xxxxx. So about the state of my country today? Guess that’s for another time, you can now heave a sigh of relief.

My granddaughter is in a bus going to Cody Wyoming for a marching band performance. It is a 393 mile trip so you can see this is an example of why a non gas powered car is out of the question in (these parts) – a term used by us meaning there’s a whole lot of nothing between me and you😂 And why the rest of us are reluctantly staying home. These school trips are fun and rewarding for the kids and I’m glad she is traveling in good weather.

The best sci-fi book I’ve read lately is: “Project Hail Mary “ written by Andy Weir of “The Martian” fame. I loved that book and also PHM. Another I liked the story and characters is: “Mars One” written by Jonathan Maberry. All three books have great lovable characters, humor and story.
