Fandangos Flash Fiction

Thanks Paula for subbing!

I thought his address was in this old address book but I can’t find it. I know he’s the one who sent the flowers. I could try and write him one more time to say back off, I’m not interested, but that would be pretty rude. He can’t seem to take the hint that a one time coffee get together was the first and last time I ever wanted to see him.

dVerse Poets Haibun Monday

Today, let’s write a haibun that references Mezza Luna, or half-moon, however you perceive it. For those new to haibun, the form consists of one to a few paragraphs of prose—usually written in the present tense—that evoke an experience and are often non-fictional/autobiographical. They may be preceded or followed by one or more haiku—nature-based, using a seasonal image—that complement without directly repeating what the prose stated.

New to dVerse? Here’s what you do:

  • Write a haibun that alludes to Mezza Luna, or half-moon.
  • Post it on your personal site/blog
  • Include a link back to dVerse in your post.
  • Copy your link onto the Mr. Linky
  • Remember to click the small checkbox about data protection.
  • Read and comment on some of your fellow poets’ work.
  • Like and leave a comment below if you choose to do so.

Writings based on phases of the moon intrigue as each one seems a story in its own. Might we ever conquer our curiosity and live in the moon’s atmosphere? Many books have been telling tales we will someday. Until then we stay curious about this satellite.

Sailing

The marine warm air pressure was only temporary but Joe was going to take advantage of it. His friend Mike tried to restrain this decision but his conversation was inadequate and failed to deter Joe from going out on the water. Sailing even a small craft was not like you see on a postcard at a resort. In a blink of an eye you may encounter a chain of events that even the most experienced sailors couldn’t handle. Joe was determined and hauled up the arrow shaped anchor and pushed out into the open sea.

Love Is In Da Blog

Prompt is choose your own.

Maybe I remember it wrongly but I always thought both men sang the original song but I can’t find it anywhere. I especially liked the contrast of the very low and very high voices in the original.

Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield started out as members of The Paramours. In 1962, the two decided to leave the five-member group to form a duo. They found their name at a show with the Paramours when a fan shouted, “That was righteous, brothers!”

Word of the Day: unsolicited

Let’s talk about spam/junk…you know that email or text that refuses to give up and you “report and delete” till your fingers cramp up? UNSOLICITED! You would think Apple with its billions could fix a simple spam/junk filter that worked. It says it does, says it will report and delete but it does not.

One thing I cannot complain about in WordPress is that **Akismet works great. I’ve had to be specific with each word of an unwanted spammer address but it does work. Finally, something that works well🥳

**Top Spam Blocker on the Planet – Akismet Stop Spam Plugin. Sorry this is an ad. My bad.

MLMM Story Starter

Marly hesitantly touched the wall, feeling the encrusted wet mud and knew that sooner or later there would be water filling up this space again. She picked up her long skirt and hurriedly stepped toward the light. It was a small illumination, and oddly pink. This is a dream she thought, but it felt real. If it was a dream, she almost laughed, I wouldn’t be wearing galoshes!

The Sunday Whirl

Would I steal a glimpse into your joyous garden

Ignore the locks on easy gates

Fall into this space free of troubles

Plant my feet among the creeping stars of jasmine

Or shall I sit in the empty wooden arbor, watching steam curl up from an almost hidden compost pile that seems to breathe life itself.

Six Sentence Story

“He certainly has the zest for life”, the nursing home continuum decided. They all wished they could dance the swing with the friendliest nursing home attendants, but sadly that was not to be. Dyed red grey haired ladies always wore their finest dress or sparkled shawl to these Sunday night parties. Bent over men with canes tapped along to the beat, possibly remembering their old dancehall days. A few of the more able bodied Alzheimer victims dizzily twirled on their own, happy in their secreted minds. The zest for life need not be physical.

Rory’s Morning Dawdler

1. All depending on the day.
2. Every day. I use audible, library, google, emails and Snapchat, texting.
3. Yes, have you read me?😂. Today I’m irritated that I receive the message below from WP every time I try to follow again because it seems I have to repeat follows almost daily. Same for leaving comments, am asked my whole info repeatedly only to be told the comment could not be posted etc. These are not blogs I just started to follow but oldies😏
I have used the same email address for seven plus years🤯
