Relay that message, Corporal!

But sir, isn’t that against the supreme leader’s instructions?

I said, relay that message, am I not clear?

But, but, it’s defying a direct order!

Okay Corporal, get me a private over here to do what I asked!

The Corporal walked begrudgingly over to the platoon.

Esther’s Writing Prompt

***

I’m the chairman of the board

Don’t think of me as master or lord

I’ll rule as honestly as I can

Every day of my four year span

Ignore men in uniform with guns

They won’t bother you or your little ones

They simply want to keep the peace

If taken you’ll soon be released

It’s a check for skin I like

No black or brown, only white

After you’re checked may be detained

I’m chairman and it is my reign

Uh, excuse my language, and it’s content

I’m only the president.

Photo Fiction – April 2, 2017

The tower bell chimes
Reminds us of times
When ships came ashore
In days of yore
To bring new spices
Or new devices
Alas those days
Are in a haze
The sea is silky
The horizon milky
The once green cliffs
Have become a mist
Of brambles and blackened bushes
No more are there baskets of fishes
No more the clean white stone
Where fishing nets were thrown
And bags of treasures shown
Even all the gulls have flown.
