MLMM Saturday Mix

And why would he? Jack had been living in Arizona his entire life. If only Sue had not decided to vacation on Mount Everest to complete her mountain climbing training, we could have been sipping sweet tea among the garden roses. Of course at fifty five she decided to make a bucket list. Good heavens was that ever a mistake! I blame her circle of “modern women” for that. Next year it will be separate vacations and I’ll be chilling out a bit differently —at a hot sunny baseball game.

Sad News

A bomb threat last month. A car accident killing one boy and hospitalizing three others yesterday. This was the day after the SWAT team, Guard and police entered our high school because someone called in an active shooter alert. Teachers and kids were hiding in closets behind locked classroom doors while heavily armed law enforcement ran through the school. Luckily my granddaughter is homeschooled for most core classes, so not in the school at the time. This is becoming so often a happening that the public is apathetic and seems to just throw up their hands in defeat. It’s been a tearful couple of days.

R for Rarog. In Slavic mythology (in particular Ukrainian, Czech and Slovak), the Raróg (Russian: Papor) or Raroh is a fire demon, often depicted as a fiery falcon. In Czech folklore, a raroh can hatch from an egg that was incubated on a stove for nine days and nights, and can appear either as a fiery falcon or a dragon. In Polish folklore, the rarog is a tiny bird that can be held in a pocket, and can bring people happiness.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Tell Me Something Good – 54 – April 24, 2017

Woohoo! Good afternoon people, and do I have good news from the home front! My grandson came to spend the day with me and helped me clean a couple of things:

1. My laptop

2. My floors

That may not seem a big deal to anyone else, but it makes my heat sing! Only the heart, you wouldn’t want to hear the real thing, believe me. Opening the blinds this morning I noticed my sparkling clean floors, gorgeous….after snow, mud and slush tracked over them by the wheels lately, those gray trails have disappeared. Cool!

Too Much Tech

I may need a supplement of the calming kind.
Is there a popular one to destress my mind?
There seems to be a sinister trend about.
One I could certainly do without.
Allegedly there’s an infinite supply
of how to do everything and why.
Is it available on google, I yearn?
Oh where can I turn to learn?
The little circle goes round and round.
Luckily it has no sound.
I’ll use a pencil, and paper instead and then
Wait while the little circle continues to spin.

Q for Quetzalcoatl, a deity in Aztec culture and literature. Among the Aztecs, it was related to wind, Venus, Sun, merchants, arts, crafts, knowledge, and learning. It was also the patron god of the Aztec priesthood.

Quetzalcóatl was particularly venerated in the calmecac, religious colleges annexed to the temples, in which the future priests and the sons of the nobility were educated.

dVerse Poets Quadrille

Here’s wishing you a happy Monday, dVerse poets, and welcome to the pub, which is now open! It’s Kim from Writing in North Norfolk bringing you the Quadrille, when we take any meaning of one word and transform it into 44 poetic words. Today, I want you to write a poem of exactly 44 words (not counting your title), including the word revolution.

How many revolutions this time, she thought to herself as she spun the ring again. It was off her finger permanently now, no longer resting proudly as a reminder she was married. Only four? That’s more than the number of years we were together.

I see visions of yesteryear

Some are newer, some old

Full mind

Some pictures remind me of fear

Regret of actions bold

Now bind

Tranquility is felt sometimes

Feelings seem strong then, plain

Want free

Life happens and pretend it’s fine

Strive for the even plane

Achieved
