Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!
The Sunday Whirl

Wordle 608
MLMM Sunday

The vertical drop is a lie that highlights the nightmare—falling, falling and then I wake up, eventually finding myself safe in bed which is proof it was only a dream, even if a horrible one. I lay there paralyzed for a few minutes, feeling around to find I really am safe in my bed. My usual decorus after such unpleasantness would be to label it only a dream. The turmoil between the frightening dream and wakefulness seems to last too long and I take the glass of water by my bed. That’s what they do in the movies, supposedly to calm people, but that is misleading, of course, because it’s only an offering not a cure.

MLMM Saturday Mix

Welcome to the Saturday Mix – No Nonsense, 10 June 2023! You will be given a nonsensical, made-up word. You will need to come up with your own definition and use it creatively and in context, in your response. It is your choice whether you write using poetry or prose. Your nonsense word this week is: “strele” Remember, define it; then use it!
This word just made me laugh because one of my granddaughters is named Sterlie Abeni – she was adopted from Haiti and her middle name means “girl prayed for”. She is a beautiful tall model with a quirky personality who wants to be an actress. I laughed at the prompt because all during schooling – she’s now 25, no teacher would call her the real name, but instead Sterile. Even today people can’t seem to get their head around the correct pronunciation so it’s a joke in the family. It has to be, because people are thoughtless and uncaring, and you have to let things like this roll on by if you want to survive in today’s society, especially today.

As a response, the National Baseball Commission was dissolved and Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landiswas appointed to be the first Commissioner of Baseball, and given absolute control over the sport to restore its integrity.
Fandango’s Flashback Friday
Nebraska or the Twilight Zone? 6-9-19
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, middle America circa 1950s, exists today in small town Nebraska. My daughter and her three oldest daughters traveled from Denver to Omaha to see a play in the antique Orpheum theater. During the eight hour trip, they stopped for lunch.
The restaurant had great reviews and they walked up to an outside window to order. The sliding window was slammed shut after taking their order. They walked inside to wait for the order, and to use the restroom. They were told there was no restroom. The “busy with families” clientele stopped eating and stared at the four strangers entering– absolutely stopped talking and stared the entire time the young women waited for their order.
After fifteen minutes of complete silence and staring, my granddaughter remarked “screw this” and grabbed her sister’s hand and said, “we need to make those wedding plans.” (I’m told she takes after me, Yeah!)
The family is used to being stared at, being diverse, and having handicap members, but not to this extreme. Luckily we’ve all adopted–pun intended, a handy sense of humor!
When they received their order, they left and ate their lunch at a park across the street.
