His dad was dead but his lessons rattled around in Harry’s mind. He could never stop hearing that word uttered with disgust from his dad and now it seemed everyone was saying it. A trip to the small town grocery or getting fuel at the gas station, everywhere. He was tired of all of it, tired of never feeling good enough, never accepted for who he really was. Harry loaded the gun like he was taught and ended his life.

Daily Picture Prompt – 5 2016

She bowed her head and prayed. The horror of gunfire was ringing in her head. She ran when she first heard it and now she seems frozen to this spot. It wasn’t a good place to hide but her feet wouldn’t move and her legs were shaking, feeling like jelly.

The shots kept sounding. “Oh, God, help us!” Why aren’t the police coming yet, the firemen, someone to save us! If her dad was here, he would come. He would bring that old shotgun of grampa’s and protect her. He had always protected her, until he couldn’t save himself.

Two students ran by in a panic. They tried to grab her, but she wouldn’t move. Something was holding her to this spot. “Come on! We’re going to the car and getting help! Come on!” She wanted to join them, but was too terrified to move.

Suddenly a man came close and put his arms around her. She saw him, but couldn’t really feel him. She tried to lift her head. Again she was unable to move.

The young man came running out, holding a rifle with both hands. He glanced around looking for another victim. He passed her by and ran into the street. It was if he didn’t see her at all! He fell to his knees and the police came out of nowhere and knocked him on the ground. The crisis was over, for her.

She lifted her head and unclasped her hands. She was so grateful to this stranger who saved her. She no longer saw or felt any presence. He was gone. She could no longer stand, and the weight of what happened made her slump to the ground. She looked everywhere and the man wasn’t there.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “sight/site.” Use one, use them both, use them any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use them both. Have fun!

Looking for something to watch while enduring another daily thunderstorm—this is Wyoming, a brown dry state with lots of wind and dust blowing everywhere—now suddenly we are deluged by rain, thunder and lightning every day! Yes the grass is bright green and that’s lovely, but can you cut the lightning?

But I digress…looking for something to watch and every site seems to have less than good offers. If something does look interesting it turns repetitive and frustrating after a few episodes. Something that might make a good 90 minute movie is stretched out to multiple seasons🫨 Repeats of flipping back to a past happening is fine once but repeated? Boring! I may be just picky but having to pay to watch something and I mostly do Netflix—repeats are irritating—which brings up another problem.

Stop now because a real rant is coming—the movies and series I watched a few years ago and downloaded have now disappeared and I would have to pay at least $4 an episode to watch them again. What the heck? Does RIPOFF come to mind? Okay, done. Please delete and return to your regular programming.

Oh and try to have a nice weekend 😳🙄😂
