Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

What If?

Speaking in tongues, an ancient creed
Everyone sat around, listened, believed
And then came documents, books and scrolls
Certain ideas written on rolls.
Different bibles and tomes with words taken
As old creeds of wisdom were forsaken
These words to some are held above
Any others as beloved
Take a minute and think this through
What if the ancient writer was you?
What of way back when you had ideas
Wrote them and they only caused fears
Creeds unbelievable, but everyone chooses to hear.

Weekend Writing Prompt #326 – Creed

SoCS 8-26-23

Friday has arrived and with it, me and your Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. I’m hungry. Are you hungry?

Thought my granddaughter coming so made Rice Krispie treats. I make them with added peanut butter and butterscotch chips. I had not made them for about four years, used a different type of crisped rice and don’t cook much since every surface is too high. I pulled out a dining room chair and covered it in a towel and stirred the hot concoction. Let’s just say I’m out of practice—they are like eating concrete😂 But the idea was there and the ❤️. You’d need a a wrecking ball (tune).

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Writephoto – Mask

7/20/17 by rugby843

‘Twas a devil mask I bought

Not giving it a second thought

I love all of Halloween

In this mask I want to be seen

I donned it on that fateful night

Noticed something not quite right

It stayed on all night through

Even on the next day, too.

In fact I found it a useless task

To rid myself of this devil mask.

I sought the owner of the store

He said no refunds, but I implored

Help I said, I can’t get this off

He turned away, heard him scoff-

Should have read the print so fine

“Once donned, you are mine”

I pleaded almost with a yelp

Please, I need some help!

He pushed a note into my palm

Then stood there, remaining calm

“Meet Me Midnight In The Alley

Then I’ll Tell You Of Your Tally”

I met the devil on that night

His burning fire was the sight

I asked him what was the price

To rid me of this mask device

The fire roared and took its toll

The mask was removed, also my soul.

Amazing

FROM NPR

“Everybody’s calling it ‘the miracle house,'” Trip Millikin, who owns the home at 271 Front St., told NPR. But that label makes him uncomfortable, he added, citing the flood of emotions that came with learning that while his house was spared, his community was gutted.

“Our hearts are broken from what’s happened,” he said. “We love our neighborhood and love our friends, and just cannot believe that that world that we knew so well and loved — it’s gone forever.”

Causing a Stew

Joe knew his stew was still the most elaborate concoction in the entire cook off, but dared not express that thought openly. The steaming pan created a hotspot of activity by former cook off attendees, but he just stood there smiling, ignoring some of the envious contestants, who never let bygones be bygones.

OVI Poetry – Justice

justice for the innocent looks

seems fairytale in children’s books

our governments are full of crooks

there is no justice in this world

***

to see justice is what you need

start with the young, then plant a seed

set an example free of greed

teach them only by your actions

3TC – Cureall

Joe stood there thinking of his vain attempt, with a boggled look on his face. His goal of course, was to rid his beloved cabin of the tiny vermin which seemed to think every crack near a window was an opportunity. There had been a small vein of a tunnel near the porch, but Joe thought he had blocked it. He decided to sit back near the fire, ignore any unwanted visitors and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. A hot toddy would certainly smooth things out.

(My father-in-law used to make these for me when I had a bad cold🙄😀)
