Moonwashed Prompt – Gingered Sky

Beginning eggplant

Leaning into pumpkin

Tinkling of raspberry

Orange arrives

Competing with strawberry

Golden yellow orb rising

Showing off with peach

Harvest morning glows.

Background blueberry shows

dVerse Poets Poetics

Without further ado, here is your poetic prompt for today: write a poem incorporating autumn, folding in some autumn words from the list provided below (at end of post), or whatever other autumn words might fall into your head. You may choose to use the fold form or any other form you wish.

Rustling crunches underfoot

Autumn splendor trodden

Snowflakes on their way

The colorful now forgotten

Scents of foggy morning chills

From distant snow capped hills

While curled black leaves fall like soot.

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

After the accident, Nelson never felt safe again. He tried not to think of what the others might say…you deserved it trying to sneak out, or…it looks okay, really, and then turning quickly so Nelson did not see the smile.

“I guess I did deserve it, but the mouse was just taunting me, sitting there on his patio! Of all the nerve!”And then the five year old going out to play left the door open.

Nelson was surprised enough that he dared to try, and then snap, the little boy slammed the door quickly and Nelson’s tail was caught! It was a shame the vet couldn’t fix it. Poor Nelson.

Sue looked into the mirror, complacent to see the daily vision greeting her. If she only made an effort she thought, a little output, a little paint on those tired lips and cheeks, maybe a dash of the radical, such as that gold flecked eyeshadow her daughter used. She decided she would try it, and carefully applied some makeup. At the office she received mostly stares, so she must have done something wrong. She then checked the restroom mirror to find the mascara had flaked and caused blackish rings under her eyes. It made the other makeup appear ghoulish and she stripped it all off and went back to her cubicle. At lunch there were no more stares and thankfully no one was laughing. Sue decided she was indeed too old to change.
