dVerse Poets Quadrille

Quadrille is a pocket-sized form of our own creation here at dVerse: a poem of just 44 words (not counting the title), including one word we provide. Today, I’d like you to tangle with the word touch

***

A simple thing really
just a skin to skin touch
radiating through at first the mind,
then the heart,
and all senses
making us human
the first touch a baby feels—
an experience expressing all of that
and provides a connection
lasting a lifetime

Quadrille #195 – Don’t Touch that Dial! (Stay and Write a Poem)

SYW 2-19-24

Here are this week’s questions:

1. What do you normally have for breakfast? I don’t eat breakfast

2.  Do you prefer to cook using gas or electricity? I prefer gas but only have electric appliances now

3.  When you are working on your computer/laptop/tablet/mobile device etc, do you listen to music or have something else on in the background? Yes but if writing I want it quiet.

4. Do you hang pictures on your walls, or prefer to have personal photographs on shelves? I have them on shelves

Gratitude: I’m grateful my personal dragon is recovering well after she came down with bronchitis and Covid, so I guess her body is telling her she needs to rest! It’s hard to keep a good woman down!☺️

Six Sentence Story

***

She entered the room to see a full on display of nude models in the startup artist studio. Sue had always wanted to be recognized as an artist and the coupon offering ten lessons for the price of five was giving her an opportunity. That’s what she thought as she gathered her supplies and drove to the studio. Sue was not a prude, who can be anymore, she thought to herself, but seeing three men completely nude in odd positions was a shock. She started to back up, trying to be discreet, when a young woman approached her, enthusiastically saying “So glad you’ll be joining us!” Sue tucked her supplies close to her and said, “I’ll pass.”

Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

MLMM Saturday Mix

Grodes: slang term for gross

“Hey biggie, I dare you to touch it!”

“No way Charlie, even I hate snakes!”

“But it’s dead!”

“I can see that C, I’m not stupid…but it’s grodes!”

***

If you find a dead snake, do not come into contact with the snake’s mouth, because dead snakes can still deliver venom through their fangs. Even a severed head of a snake still has the ability to inject venom when it is touched.

Waiting, standing, anticipating

Nerves alive, even grating

Never thought I’d feel elation

At a simple railway station

But here I am, debating

The choice of “online” dating

Pick an app, state your case

Everyone does it, no disgrace

Then decide to meet face to face

I should have just erased

The picture I had placed

Now I’m feeling so displaced

Train is coming, heart is raced—

Wow, can this be my mate?

They say all’s well that ends well

Think I’ve created a dream, a spell

But in fantasy I dwell

I think this date will turn out swell!

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Stream of Consciousness Saturday – 4-29-17 by rugby843

Howdy doody! It’s Saturday SoCS by lindaghill.com and we’re off with the Prompt “yard.”

I’m in an apartment now and don’t have a yard. Besides the maintenance, I miss it very much.  In Colorado at my old home built in 1940, we had a nice yard. Crab apple trees would be in full pink blooms today, the Forsythia in yellow, and the Bridal Veil in white. The English Sparrow babies would be peeking in and bobbing up and down outside the porch windows. The Iris would be in full bloom, along with white, lavender, and purple lilac bushes. The Colorado state flower, the blue Columbine, would be coming up and the Peony bushes budding. We lived on the Western slope where it was a near perfect seasoned climate. When it snowed in the higher mountains we were privileged to see beautiful snow topped peaks. I could go on, but you get the point, loved it!
