One-Liner Wednesday – Are you allergic to anything?

Well here sits my husband in his glee
Eating cereal while wild and free
His favorite pastime is clear to see
He’d rather bathe and eat than sit with me.
I’ve talked to him till I’m black and blue
But he wants all the other colors too
Too much to be satisfied
With whatever I do.
It’s harmless they say, let him be free
When I asked a doc for suggestions for me
So here he sits and I am tired of it
Think I’ll buy gallons of milk, let him drown as he sits
That way at least we’ll both be free
Me in the shower and him in a cereal sea.

Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – Silken blue

I chose number six:
The worst injury I had as a child was almost drowning. My entire family plus cousins were at a lake in a big picnic get together. I had taken swimming lessons in an ice cold brook and hated it, but I could keep myself above water. My much bigger, not well liked cousin decided to pull me under. I yelled for help and the adults were all talking and didn’t hear me. The ledge I was standing on disappeared and I found myself going deep with my cousin pushing me down on top of me. Finally my oldest brother-in-law saw and jumped in to find me. To this day I don’t care to be over my head in unknown waters. Glub, glub, glub.

Writer’s Workshop Prompts for August 22, 2024
This week’s Story Starter teaser is:
“I’m sorry, detective,” the officer said, “but none of the fingerprints found at the crime scene matched those of our primary suspect.”
That never stopped Detective Wronclews. He knew the woman was guilty. He could just tell by her swarthy look, tight dress and big dark eyes. The fact she reminded him of his first wife had no influence on his thinking. He immediately knew she was guilty. And then there was the blood on her hands. She of course said she was trying to give CPR to the victim, but the detective knew better. It reminded Wronclews of his third wife, when he saw her cutting up chickens for their dinner. Then there was the nosy neighbor who thought she saw the victim enter the house…who could forget the woman who lived across from the detective and his second wife when they had those violent arguments? Yes, this woman was guilty alright. It was written all over her.

The Macintosh apple a work of art
As seen when skin and pulp do part
Bright red and green skin so smooth
A cute stem is poised from the root
A taste of sweet flesh from tart surround
Makes this apple so profound
The scent of apple orchard trees
Autumn delight on the breeze
Enjoy the juicy white pulp flavor
A Macintosh apple is meant to savor.

Poetics: Exploring the senses in Food Poetry

Ideas come and go, trends
Like styles of clothes
Or songs that bend
Feelings and thoughts
In different ways
It’s like your mind’s a maze
Every day, month or year
Your imagination’s a seer
Of what was, and what will be
Around the bend.

dVerse — Quadrille Monday #206 — Around the Bend

A new term, new teacher and class
Get pencils, papers and books that pass
Forget the ruler and chalk
They cause teachers to balk
Oh and a new uniform too
So everyone looks alike in school
It’s a staple you need that helps you to learn
On that the board is frequently stern
And then there’s homework, a student’s lament
Only worked on their home firmament
And never forget about that bus
Riding to and from and causing no muss!
Some look forward to starting school
Me? I’d rather sit by a pool.
