The Sunday Whirl

***

Through the ghoulish night, the wind spins a wicked spell. Unable to sleep, Sara feels a spirit as it begins to stir. She rises, almost unwillingly, her body moves, she seems wrapped in a blanket. “What tricks of the mind are doing this? I’ve never believed in ghosts, yet here I am, transported to the graveyard.” She seemed unable to speak or cry for help, as her bare feet were now set upon the freezing ground. The steps of a mausoleum were covered in dead weeds and spider webs. Sara was horribly afraid of spiders and shivered as she saw some moving. Unable to control her movements, she was transferred into the crypt.

Sara knew that buried within this hollowed tomb was the body of a distant relative who used to live in Sara’s house. It was rumored in family stories that Agatha had been a witch. It was never proven, and she was drowned by the township elders. Sara suddenly realized this might have been the date of Agatha’s drowning.

When she entered the crypt, a light shown her the casket in the room. Sara walked up and put a hand on Agatha’s coffer. Curiously, Sara felt a sadness, and thought she heard a sigh. She weirdly felt sorrow for Agatha, not really believing the old stories handed down in family gatherings.

The light went out, darkness surrounded her and Sara was able to move on her own. She turned and fled the burial chamber and when outside saw the sun was about to rise. In an instant she was relieved and felt the blanket around her, but her feet still felt the cold. She ran over the grassy mounds and into her house. Sara was certainly confused as to how she found herself outside in the old graveyard which bordered her yard, but decided she would try to find out what really happened to Agatha, and if she was dreaming or were ghosts or spirits real?

Chat Fact🤯

Frustration grows

As “hold” music flows

Tapping my fingers now, growing impatient

The helper person seems complacent

The spiel of thank you for being a customer, blah, blah, blah

Already heard five times, it’s beginning to gnaw

I can’t understand the accent too thick

Companies hiring these people I think is a trick

The institutions hire, probably to irritate

So you finally hang up nothing solved while you wait

Is it a ploy by these institutions

That way they don’t need to provide solutions

Frustrated people asking again to repeat

The helper person polite but can’t speak

In any understandable speech

Why have a job, answering phones, I implore

Why not just work in the actual store?

Is it purposeful to hire them just to frustrate

So companies don’t have to reciprocate

When they overcharge or make a mistake

Is it their game so you to hang up, deflate?

Then the company can sit back and relax

They don’t have to deal with you, overtaxed

You finally hangup with no problem solved

So tired and frustrated and nothing’s resolved.

NTT 3 – Future Vision

It finally happened
He realized his dreams were real
His mind was full of images
He could not reveal
The visitors explained this was just for him
Any disclosure and the outcome would be grim.
Finally tried to clear his head
Explaining what he saw
The doctors listened carefully
Then asked him to draw.
The pencil started shaking
He asked for colors more
Furiously the pens were moving
Papers falling on the floor
After he was done and the doctors shown
It was decided, the patient’s mind was blown
Now he’s medicated, sitting all alone
But images were the truth as he was shown.

NTT 2 – Pensive

This is where the dream has ended
Gray, cold, discarded
Melancholy as I see it
Remembering it vibrant
Fields full of golden waving wheat
House standing strong, upright
Freshly painted
Green grass mowed
Bushes and trees trimmed
Now sad gray clouds cover all
Atmosphere under sky—cold
Memories muted
Home abandoned
No one passes and stops to envision
What it was years ago
When this building was full of
Happy family excitement.

My favorite at the moment😉

It’s been a stressful week. This weekend I plan on making tomato sauce for pizza crusts and spaghetti, etc. Also they delivered two green cabbages instead of one so I’ll be making two batches of coleslaw from a new recipe. No mayo and tart:

I used 1/4 cup of olive oil to 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1 T of yellow mustard, 1 t of sugar and then celery seed, salt and pepper. The amount of cabbage was almost a whole one sliced. I like tart and it’s easy to adjust to your own taste.

I used green cabbage, carrots, t of grated sweet onion because that’s what I had on hand. I think adding peppers would be great.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 26, 2024

Look what we’ve become…

This article from NPR is a sad note in this United States of America. Even writing United seems a false statement. And in my opinion, this turn of events started when Trump became president and even writing that seems an incredible fact. His continued denial of losing the election and stirring up hateful people, some ignorant who just follow the loudest person, the so-called Christians, and the evil element we all know that are thinking it’s time to come out from under their rocks because one of the highest officials in our land says it’s okay to act out their hate. Of course I personally think he’s lost it, and I think one reason is he is taken aback by Kamala. He’s always chosen women for their beauty, not their strength or intelligence. Furthermore, he constantly threatens and is trying to incite the same violence he encouraged, set the stage for and condoned on January 6.

“The FBI has issued a warning to state and local officials that extremists with election grievances could turn violent in the weeks to come. People in the swing state of Georgia are on edge. The FBI bulletin emphasizes that concerns such as alleged election fraud and anger toward perceived political opponents could trigger the most likely threats of extremist violence. Polling places and campaign events may be potential targets.”
