Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

The hunter seen, his strength has grown, every vicious aspect known. Heavily armored to last until the battle’s won, his body protected and heavy leathers sewn. Too many years of fighting worn, shown on his face, forlorn. Again he leaves to save the reign, the kingdom’s rule is his life’s bane. He hunts them down, the dissenters. He can’t think of those resisters. His only job is to find and kill. There’s no justice in doing this, it’s not his will. The hunter killer was not his choice, as a young man with no voice. It was his fate.

Weekend Writing Prompt #389 – Hunter

Thanks to Kevin for the image: https://thebeginningatlast9.com/2024/11/07/no-theme-thursday-11-07-24/

What day is it anyway?

It’s snow on the ground and cold here in Wyoming and of course 1-80 is closed as every winter weather’s nemesis occurs…icy roads and wind. This is a main trucking route that is constantly on the move and sees this typical sad scene:

I see 170 is also getting storm crash results. When driving from Denver to Cheyenne two years ago, we saw four semi trucks lying on their sides on the edge of the road and that was because of high winds. Have respect for these big vehicles that bring goods, etc to your stores. They have deadlines and they cannot stop on a dime if you decide to cut them off.

That’s a Yarn…

Many a day I thought of this

When you gave me that first kiss

Surprised I was, we were just friends

But it was nice, and in the end

I thought much more of you

But we’d never be a me and you.

I had my sights on another

Motorcycle and black leather

Foolish as that may seem

I thought he was the dream

Time passed by and I learned not

He wasn’t the one I thought

It turned out he was right next door

We had a lot of fun and more

Then he joined the service far

All our plans were ajar

Moving on to bigger things

I forgot about wedding rings.

#1 — That’s a Yarn…

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

They just finished the Stair Climb” where they climb the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs to commemorate and honor the first responders who lost their lives on 9/11. Many participants climb in full gear to further symbolize the experience of the firefighters on 911. My grandson second from left❤️

I had to copy and paste, my WP is acting weird, click on the app and get the Reader and a different setup—not easy to get to my own site😖

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — November 8th

SoCS 11-9-24

***

I’m a lucky one, I’m on top

Of course I had days that flopped

And days I felt under the gun

But all in all I’m a lucky one.

Free to be here, writing my thoughts

Have shelter and food in the pot

So you may be underwhelmed

When reading anything I’ve penned🙄

Emojis probably not used under rules

But seem appropriate when I use

Them.🥴🤓

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Nov. 9, 2024

MLMM – Normal

Respond to this Friday Faithfuls challenge by writing about what you feel is normal, typical, appropriate, or acceptable, or if you always try to be normal so that you can fit in with the crowd, or if you think it is good to be yourself and follow your own path.

***

I never thought of myself as normal. I didn’t fit in—too shy, too skinny, too harbored by my parents, and then I was married, had children and thought okay, normal. I tried to be a better than normal wife and mother.

And all these years later I’m trying to be a new version of normal. Having this blog, writing anything I want, no matter how weird it may seem to others is my new normal. Thank you all for supporting me in that!

Today I’m still reeling from the election, still very upset thinking of people who are not white like me, don’t have an income that provides basic needs, and support of a loving family. What is going to happen to them? I fear for the women and girls in my family. I fear for the less privileged. Just plain sad and fearful. Is that going to be the new normal? After many changes in my lifetime, I feel this will be the most devastating.

W3 – What Now?

***

Didn’t realize how light it was
Naïve, didn’t stop to pause
And then a certain clause
Changed an important law.
Freedoms that were strong
Changed – their plan all along
Govern as if we’re not United
Dark actors hidden, now invited
No need for the golden rule
Where you work, go to school
How you act, what you read
Independence gone with basic needs.
