Saturday Six Word Story Prompt (6WSP) #135 – May 3, 2025

The chairman of the museum said, “This book of memoirs is gobbledygook. It’s definitely not a sale item.”
Can You Tell A Story In…

Daily Post
They say that with age
Thinking turns more sage
But I have to disagree
At least pertaining to me
Sure I may be wiser
Think I’m an advisor
But memory I find
Is hardly kind.
Take these prompts for example
Their existence is ample
But I’m always behind
Or is it just my mind?
Seems very troubling
They seem to be doubling
Or is it just me
Early senility?
I use the term comically
But it’s anatomically
Correct, unfortunately
I am a senior, importunately
So bear with me please
Hope with age, it may ease.

The electricity in the room was due to the charm of the little man in the cradle. He was a gift they did not expect, but he forced the grief of months past to leave and become a hazy thought. The grandmother took her head scarf which had a list of chants and prayers printed on it; shaped around her neck and swaying, looking to the sky and knowing some secrets of life were revealed this day. Her mysterious cat rubbed on the grandmother’s legs and softly growled. The entire day and evening seemed a dream to her daughter, who always thought she would be denied a healthy baby.

This was a tough combination of words😉

“Picture it,” the old woman said. “Even with big clouds this night you can place the North Star.” Evelyn thought her grandmother a wise woman, but she couldn’t seem to see the wishing star. She had read about it, how fishermen could find their way if lost at sea, but she was not that knowledgeable. However, she could survey the night sky and write some clever poems about it.

MLMM Monday Wordle #422

There once was an old man named Trump
His speeches belonged in a dump
Hosts wanted to push beep
So his hate words they could bleep
But they needed a bigger sump.

Laughing Along With A Limerick

Your challenge is to write a poem that starts with a surprising hook, which can be one to three lines, but must develop into a fully-fledged poem.
It can be on any of the topics in the Larkin poems I have given as examples: parents, a mower, a day in your life, trees; or a topic of your choice. The style and form of your poem are up to you. I would just like you to hook us on your opening lines (pun intended).
If you are new to dVerse and/or Poetics, here’s how to join in:
