Just when you think….

Slept well for a change, coffee, reading blogs WITH makeup since I plan on getting out in the world, and then….read this:

A poem by a Chilean poet named Pablo Neruda, brought to us by:

Happy 115th Birthday Pablo Neruda

I love this blog, check it out if you haven’t already.

That did it, makeup destroyed and it seems the sun is now behind the clouds, threatening rain. I know it’s raining inside.

SoCS July 13, 2019

Linda’s Prompt for Saturday is instructions. I’m reaching back to the 70’s for this story of my dad and his brother in law, who I adored, Uncle Chape. They were visiting us in Houston on their way to San Padre Island and each bought a metal detector to use on the beach. Uncle Chape got up early and threw his detector together. He was a small wiry impatient man and when done, it didn’t work. Later my dad went out to find Chape opening his package and threw a fit. My dad used the instructions and his detector worked fine. We all had a laugh about it. I miss my uncle, he was charming and funny and great story teller, sometimes making up his own words.☺️He certainly was an original.

MLMM Wordle #141

Charlie was one of those always muttering, pretentious, seemingly flustered guys, who liked to argue, but ended up barking mad if you didn’t acquiesce to his opinions. The office personnel avoided him at all costs, never wanting to press their own point of view since inevitably it did not agree with Charlie’s.

The other occupants of the call center were able to tumble a friendly opinion with their steady customers, banter a bit about politics and the weather, but Charlie was as stubborn as an immovable block of granite.

He steadied the oars and sat there drifting. Afraid to be seen or make any disturbance, he leaned back in the small boat, contemplating how he could manage it.

She was there, he felt her presence even this far away. Thinking he could send a message for her to meet him on a night like this, might work, maybe they could be together. It would only be temporary and they both wanted more.

He sat up and rowed back to his side of the shore. Separated by much more than water, he tied up the boat and once again went to sleep discouraged.

Word of the Day: Ephemeral

They say love is fleeting

At my age I think it is life

Yesterday I was holding, breastfeeding my three month old in a ’66 mustang on a two thousand mile nonstop trip to visit my parents. A short time later I’m holding his three month old daughter, and the living room surrounds us with grown children, husbands, wives, and grandchildren. Time is ephemeral. Love is not.
