Sunday Photo Fiction

A dream for both of us, meeting here. We had corresponded over the last few years, always wanting to meet in person. I had doubts about the beach, but he rented a chair with special tires to navigate the sand. We were finally together, able to hold each other, speak freely, and loving each other. I was in heaven, for a short time. But the dream came true and will always be with us, even as we returned to our real lives.

The Daily Four Questions

***

I suppose if you asked my parents, you’d be able to choose from many, but I have been told of this one which of course I was 2, too young to know about. The visiting minister came and I proudly walked in to the living room to show my mom I had peed in the little pot I was holding. I tripped and it spilled into the furnace grate. . .probably they would enjoy it for days to come.

When I entered high school, we had to pick three careers we were interested in. I chose executive secretary, journalist and nursing. Then your classes were structured by your choices. I did end up being an executive secretary, but not for just one person. I was the only one working for a group of scientists in an army lab. It was great!

I was shy and lived in the country away from classmates, so socializing was extremely rare, such as going to school activities etc. I wasn’t allowed to call or answer phone calls from possible friends. Moving into town at 16, the leash expanded.

I certainly do agree. Now that I’m not that shy kid anymore I say go for it!

Twittering Tales

I told you, see him?

Oh my gosh, he’s gorgeous, just like the book we read!

Exactly, now you think it’s safe to speak to him?

The one in the book talked.

Yeah, but this dragon is real.

Well I just think we’re having the same dream.

Alright, but, I’m going to try anyway – “Uh, hi Pete”!

3TC – Alligator Blues

Today’s prompt: dust, uniform, alligator

Joe adjusted his new crisp uniform, once again forgetting to tell his mom, “please, no starch.” He was starting a new job today at the zoo. Being the guy in charge of the reptiles, he was anxious to see what his work entailed. Walking up to the alligator pit, he dusted off the sign in front: “No food or drinks allowed near the animals”.

Joe was just taking his last bite of donut and sip of coffee when snap! Joe’s mom won’t have to worry about cleaning Joe’s uniform any longer.

MLMM Photo Challenge #278 – Nightlife

Geez, Harry, that was a rough one, I don’t think I can take this much longer. The wigs, the nails, the fake boobs, it’s all getting to be too much. Joe lit his respite for a long night, drawing the hot smoke into into his throat, feeling it darkening his lungs.

Harry just shrugged. He’d been at this a long time, and talked Joe into trying it out for a few weeks to get by. The club’s attendance was waning, but there only were a few of the old guys left. The life used to provide a livable income but now it was just the young bucks getting any attention.

The hard life was only temporary for Joe and this was his last night. He was going back to the picket line at the factory. Even hot sun and the taunts of the public were better than this.

Word of the Day: Nearly

Image: DeviantArt

I nearly fell! The bridge was narrow and long with no railing. I heard the the wood creaking under my weight. Here and there boards were missing, but no faltering here. Stepping carefully, making the right footfalls made all the difference. I paused and looked back over the deep chasm, realizing I had accomplished what I thought impossible. This challenge over, I moved forward to another.
