Twittering Tales – Love Conquers All

She couldnt decipher the message. All is lost she thought, I’ll never see him again.

Marie hoped the man she fell in love with was real, not the perfectly human creation her father conceived for her.

Decision’s made. She would find him. Love is love. All she needed was an oil can.

Rory’s Questions 🍀

***

I have two friends I’ve known for 70 years and we went to school together. I haven’t actually seen them for years as we live across the country from each other.

I do. Probably that is obvious as I voice my opinions frequently here on the blog. But I have sincerely apologized when I’m wrong. I like to argue/discuss.🤓

The movie I remember most I was about six years old, and went to see “War of the Worlds” with my sister, 12. I spent most of the time with my head in her lap, scared silly!

Let me count the ways….I would do anything for a friend.🙄

Looking through my huge book of Bartlett’s Quotations, found this one while looking for positivity quotes, seems applicable to blogging:

“Not picked from the leaves of any author, but bred amongst the weeds and tares of mine own brain”. Sir Thomas Browne

***

Thinking positively, I was tempted to put on a song that has been running through my mind today from “The Life of Brian”–“Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” but the video might be offensive, so if you’re curious, look it up yourself. Monty Python rules.

Brew and Spew Cafe – 9-2-19

Sage advice honestly given

Received with spicy retort

Perhaps a gray green leaf or two

Should be taken from the sage’s book.

Sage is one of my favorite spices, bringing memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I grew sage in Colorado. Writing that brings memories of a wonderful life there.😌

MLMM Wordle #148 – Envy

Bittersweet memories lead to disdain as my sister once again freezes her family photos on the Facebook screen. I sank bank on the cushion and hugged my cat. When would she realize her constant happiness paraded to all seemed a sadistic trend to some? The perfect mold of family togetherness, the beautiful home, the constant pride of what she beheld–did she even realize her wealth?

My own life similar only to a misconstrued paper airplane, always descending too soon.

MLMM Photo Challenge #279

My mountain home

My getaway

Very efficient

In every way

The view is great

With lots of room

And if there’s trouble

I can quickly zoom

Off and up on any day

To another location right away

No strings, no tethers hold me down

No foundation hitched to the ground

Freedom is all I say I’ve found

It’s my philosophy profound.

3TC – 9-3-19

Today’s prompt: burglar, tutu, geometry

***

Sneaking into the professor’s office at eleven that evening, was not a burglar, but two students. Joe and Jack crept over to the filing cabinet. Their goal was to gather the forthcoming exam and copy it to study. Geometry had never been either student’s forte and this was their misconceived idea to rectify the situation.

Both students had spent the earlier part of the night in the theater department, rehearsing the all male production of Swan Lake. Neither young man had time to change from their costumed tutu and it became quite unwieldy as they snuck into and out of the office window.

All was going fine, exam papers retrieved and copied, stuck into one’s tights, and they thought their mission accomplished. One final misstep as they were leaving, when Joe’s tutu was caught on the stick used to prop up the window. Hanging on the edge of the window sill, he could either let go and fall to the ground or unhook the tutu. He chose the latter, the stick fell, window shut quickly causing the glass to break, and setting off an alarm.

The collapsed caper resulted in two ballet buffoons quickly quashed by campus cops.

Cartographer Catastrophe

Give me the map!

I can see it just fine, don’t worry.

Give me the map!

Don’t get your knickers in a knot, we just take the next left.

Last time you said take the next left we ended up in that bizarre neighborhood! Everyone out on their porches just staring into space. . .it was like Zombieville. Now give me the map! We could surmount this problem if you let me install Google Maps in the dashboard.

I’m old school. I like having the map spread out before me. I like to see the whole picture. Now make the next left.

That’s the problem. Even with your reading glasses, you never see the whole picture. Hand over the map!

MLMM Saturday Mix – Dog Show

Our three words, using onomatopoeia are:

  • bark
  • chomp
  • giggle

***

He groomed him till the Irish Setter’s coat was gleaming. His behavior excellent during the competition with only one bark from the magnificent beast. The master thought he was a shoe in to win. The only real challenge was the Standard Poodle, who had won the three years before, but his age was showing.

The final pass through and as the judge smoothed her hands over the poodle, a sudden chomp was heard and the judge grabbed her finger in pain. The setter’s master stifled a giggle as he knew for sure his win was in!

FFFC#30

It’s okay, he thought to himself. I see the changes, I accept it. The white streaks, the forehead lines, the crinkled eyes, it’s all part of it. Time changes everyone. I should look at my reflection with pride of accomplishment, knowing most of the time I did my best.

The octogenarian donned his comfortable worn flannel pajamas, turned off the bedroom light and laid down once more to dream of brighter days gone by.
