Waiting. . .for Death?

Sunshine in windows

Morning coffee brew

Strength to rise again

Dishes drying

Postman’s clutter

Factory’s noon whistle.

Spending life waiting for the routine to end before beginning the day once more. Occupied with reading, listening, watching, all the while waiting, anticipating with hope, dreaming it will change, but if not, waiting for it to end.

Accustomed Love

It is all the rage

New look, new age

Going native is what it’s called

I was hardly enthralled

The nude look is not really my style

And for him, well it’s been a while

His trying to duplicate

The 17 year old mate

He was when we first met

Oh my god, shouldn’t regret

Seeing the vision

But was his decision

After a while

I had to smile

Native was when I fell into his ardor

I think it’s an image I can harbor

Reliving romantic memories

I’m happy he too, is thinking of these

Memories of Trees

My first attempt at this Prompt from dVerse poets.com

The line I choose is from Robert Frost’s Birches: “They click upon themselves As the breeze rises, and turn many-colored As the stir cracks and crazes their enamel.”

***

White birch trees complimented the green of the Vermont landscape, much like the black and white Holsteins dot the low hills. Both are striking contrasting visions to the lush emerald hues surrounding them. With age and weather, “as the stir cracks and crazes their enamel” the smoother white bark curls and opens to reveal the dark inner self. This is truly aging with beauty.

Come Closer. . .

I see you staring, wondering what’s inside. Admire burnished beauty? I’m used to it, no worries. What’s with the locks? Well I am ancient after all, different locks have been removed or added over the years. Feeling woozy? That’s perfectly normal. Come close, look inside.

Rory’s Daily Four

***

I feel passion for almost everything. The top of the list would be just life, living after cancer makes you appreciate the day to day stuff. Articulate, eh? Family, love, nature all important.

Apparently not.

I am as happy as I can be. If I had a close friend I met five years ago near me, I would be happier, but we’re about 8 hours away from each other and don’t drive.

I do experience stress but not usually for myself. Usually for a family member if they are stressed for whatever reason. I try not to read about Trump too much because he causes me the most stress.
