Preying on your weakness

Betrayal he imparts

Promising forever, playing with your heart

Keeping talents hidden as in a game of darts

He hits the bullseye once, you can’t believe the feel

And while your heart is healing

He starts tightening the reel

You flounder in the wake

While slowly being pulled back in

Almost unbelieving when he leaves you once again

A dream of love’s a fine thing, but can cut as sharp as scissors

Avoid being fooled by only smoke and mirrors.

Shadows

Interpretations of the written word often vary. I am quick to write and then wonder if what I was thinking, the image my mind created, was actually interpreted the way I meant it. Being an impatient person in general, I quickly make comments and then think, why did I send that? Do they know I’m kidding, being sarcastic, having a weird day and accept it as such? Most of my followers probably know me well and accept it, but sometimes a post hits me sideways and I say something that I know the reason for, but they are clueless. It’s not their fault, it’s mine.

A short post long because posts that are sincere make me think, and shadows of my life, memories I keep in the background, will jump into the light, as I react to someone’s writing. Crazy? Probably, but I am an emotional person, still. My rants prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt…sorry, I had to try humor at some point. With all that’s going on, I have to laugh through tears sometimes. The world has a lot of nightmares now and accepting we have little control over the day to day doesn’t stay in the shadows.

The treats however would make us leer

At videos of violence, murder and sadness

And the sight of Trump’s hand in each deal of badness

I hardly recognize this great nation

I need Switzerland for a vacation

I wonder what else is up his sleeve

To win the election with his sleaze

Old RBG must be restless these days

While the kangaroo court prepares reversing her ways

The old saying, this too shall pass

Whoever said that is a horses a—

Tuesday Writing Prompt

I want the whole experience, the hunter told the scouts

I want to see him up real close and see him run full out

The scouts replied that’s dangerous, you surely aren’t that, uh, brave? Then looking at each other thinking this guy’s crazed!

The mighty hunter stood his ground hoping to see the cat

He got his wish, plus a hospital visit to bat!

If you think having pretty wildlife “in your hands” might be a treat

My advice is don’t, you won’t be light enough on your feet.
