Snow outside, the cold gives me a chill
No family here, but I wish them no ill
Everyone’s locked in their own homes
Looking out windows at snow covered gnomes
A blanket, a movie, or a book’s all we need
We hardly miss the holiday speed
A snap, a text, a video call
Keeping separate-together is all
This family can wait till times are better
And all the illness and sadness no longer fetters.

“Before five in the morning is when the big mouth bass swim in this stream.” The instructor presented his well trimmed lean arm over his shoulder and expertly fired out the fly on the end of the line.
After what seemed a curiously long time to his students, he sheepishly retrieved the end of his line from the tree behind him.

He was new at this, hoping to be the latest to discover the rewards of being a great Shakespearean actor.
He was so nervous before entering stage left, he energetically stumbled on his sword. Sad to say, in his hurry to get dressed in his costume, he forgot the inner protection pads of his fake armor.
Conclusion: he is forever known as the actor who “laid down on the job”.

No matter the chaos
No matter the strife
No matter the changes
We’ve had in our life
Christmas is coming on 12/25
Just as sure as we are alive.
People will sing, we’ll dance and and we’ll pray
People will celebrate in their own way
People are strong, they’ll find that the day
Passes, even when loved ones are far away.
And as the new year beckons a change
With the old one exceptionally strange
We will survive, maybe rearrange
As it comes and hopeful greetings exchanged.

It was a niggle, a nudge, a suggestion to make me budge. I was growing too comfortable in these snowy cold times and just stayed on my bed, writing rhymes. But today I thought enough was enough, started sorting my Christmas stuff. I’m wrapping, storing, checking supplies. Do I have enough paper, ribbons and ties? I’m almost done, and by the way, it really was fun.

Walking the dog

I much prefer a cabin in front of burning logs.

Was putting it off, getting behind
