SenHai Saturday #48

Laughter is the best
Medicine,
forget the rest
All the pills
In all the bottles
Will never settle a lotta
Problems, aches and pains
It’s pharmacy companies that reign.
People sometimes hesitant
Refuse to give that laughter
Others spent.
The time of their lives sometimes short
But giggling at it, I report
It is a balm
A time of calm
After
Laughter.

Simply 6 Minutes – Welcome to the Challenge: 04/14/2026

“My heavens!”yelled the immortal Miss Pennypacker. She picked up the microphone at the cottage by the lake. Being the main speaker at a library convention, most of the ladies at this particular speech were hard of hearing elderly. However, the resting teapot on each small table teetered, hearing this exclamation. Miss Pennypacker approached the curious snail on the mic with zeal. “Do you read?”

Can You Tell A Story In…

Stephen Wright was never nasty or even really mean, but I had to think of two words beginning with M and N. As I said, my internet is playing tricks on me. Here are two jokes from SW: “ I used to be a people person until people ruined it for me” and “Support bacteria, they’re the only culture some people have”. Or on a lighter note, “Borrow money from a pessimist, they don’t expect it back”.

Ever order groceries to be delivered? Now that my family is working full time, an actual trip to the grocery is put off. Most of the time my order is okay, but other times? I always check “no substitutes” because I have a few items I’m picky about. Whole milk given when ordered skim, etc, the largest box of a different brand (I assume no one likes it and they pawn it off on me), and other things that I don’t order but magically show up in my bags. The milk one time had expired the day before I ordered it😳Coffee flavor pods that I never wanted to try, three batches of spinach instead of one small one…of course it will expire before I could use it all. Just a few of the delivery complaints, but the driver is not the shopper so you still have to tip. After all it is their job! I only had one delivery left in the foyer of my building instead of my door down the hall. It was almost funny, white bags strewn across the lobby entry. That person must have had a really bad day😀😀😀

This Week’s Writer’s Workshop Prompts – April 14, 2026

A nice quote, but I wish just even one cabinet member followed that principle. As it is they all reach and seem to achieve their demented desires and put the remaining people in chaos and danger.

Reena’s Xploration Challenge #426

I’d rather be sitting on a porch swing, spring blossoms in my vision, watching a big ol’ jar of sun tea turn amber, and watching my new great grand babies. Heavenly.

Sun tea is a classic summer beverage made by steeping tea bags in a jar of water in direct sunlight for 3 to 5 hours, resulting in a mellow, low-tannin flavor. Use 4–8 bags per gallon of water, optionally adding herbs or citrus. Safety Warning: Because it brews in the “danger zone” (40–140°F), it may grow bacteria; refrigerate immediately and drink within 24 hours.

One-Liner Wednesday – I’d rather be…

Flower or flowers are my favorite things. I love the look, the feel, and the scents! In Colorado I had a large span/set of yellow roses, a barrier of bushes big and wide. Every year we would gather many of them to put on gravesites at the two local cemeteries. We also had lilacs, all colors, peony bushes, and a crab apple tree. It was a beautiful yard with all the colors. I also had little garden areas of lilacs, iris, honeysuckle and different colored columbine, the blue being the Colorado state flower. I very much miss it.

Writing Prompts

Thinking of Spring
Tulip time
Lilies chime
Crocus clime
Spring has sprung
Church bells rung
Robin songs
Lakes melting
Fish smelting
Rain pelting
