I had some ideas right at the start
Block is easy and I’m so smart
Then reading further a mental block?
I dressed, put on my shoes and socks.
Hmm, it simmered up there under my mane
That small place
Lots of empty space…my brain
I started walking, you guessed it…
Down the block
Hoping a new idea came from old stock
But realized quickly I had to succumb
Mental block! Brain flashes “empty!”
I’m afraid it’s numb!

Writing Prompts
All sounds idyllic as I read
you’ve really sewn a seed
of hope in these ancient eyes
It all sounds nice, even wise
but dreams are for the very young
I’m afraid my song’s been sung
The notes of youth, flowers in bud seem trampled among life’s mud
I need a new path as you suggest
think I’m tired of all the rest
In fact I think I’m just tired.
I’ve always tried not to get mired
In negativity – a no fun scene
That’s why your words that I read
Keep me amused and
I’m sorry if you feel used
Please don‘t because
I look forward to your advice
Adventures really do sound nice
Because it’s been a while
Since a reason for a smile.

I really do have writer’s block. That’s my excuse, anyway, and certainly the excuse I’ll be using in court.
Running round and round the block?
– Wearing panties, bra and frock
Is this some strange attempt to shock?
– Just a sad attempt to rock
No running gear? No shoe? No sock?
– Just pantyhose and Birkenstock
No care in ladies underwear?
– Dancing like there’s no one there
At least you’re not completely bare!
– Do you really think I’d care?
Might give the little kids a scare!
– I’d still do it for a dare
You’d be arrested! Tried in the dock
– I don’t care. Take that in stock
Don’t do it! Or your path I’ll block
– In your mouth please put a sock
In a cell, it’s you they’ll lock
– Well, that may cure my writer’s block

My god you’re right
You are a sight
But there’s a blight
On your website
I see no block
Or pants or socks
Guess you must have been on a walk
But no worries I’ll be back
To check on the lack
Of poetry so fun and bold
At least
That’s what I’ve been told ; )

It’s just the job of finding time
To find the words that sort of rhyme
In past or even present tense
Finding words that make some sense
Alliteration, punctuation
Just a hint of vague flirtation
A comma there, a full stop here.
Anything to make it clear
Anything to keep it real
Words that say just what I feel
Sometimes I lie, but always true
Are the words I write for you

I love to write
Fight the fight
But keeping it tight
Is a thing of might
I just let it flow
And then I read
Perplexed, as I see
Opinions I should keep to myself
But this last year
They fall off the shelf
Demanding to be printed
No holding back hinted
But please, comment as long as you like
Your words are an interesting hike
Over the usual, like my own “thank you”s
And yours definitely amuse!

There’ll be no fighting. No, no, no
I’m a lover, don’t you know?
Those words, those feelings that you hear
Are my sweet nothings in your ear
Upon a gentle wind they creep
To find a way into your sleep
So darling, won’t you close your eyes?
Allow my voice to hypnotise
When stars shine innocent above
Just drift away and fall in love?
And then upon a rising dawn
Another world to you is born
Across the oceans hand in hand
We’ll journey to another land
Where special moments we will seek
There upon the mountain peak
The world below, the stars sky above
It’s there we’ll consecrate our love
There’ll be no man can tear apart
The magic that connects each heart
