Exploding clouds and drifters splayed
A jet passed through on this day
It leaves a trail of sudden white
Foamy wisps are a sight
The noise hurled through quiet air
Added to its majestic flair
While the puffy others rest
Mountains dark will digest
The trails they leave
The scene reprieve.

Esther’s Writing Prompt

***

When I grew up it was, don’t be cross as I remember it. Said by my mom of course. Watching my three older sisters get into trouble, I don’t think I was ever cross, but probably scared? Adventurous yes, but rarely ever daring enough to make her cross. Cross your fingers was a biggie back then. Now I think youngsters do what they want and don’t bother to cross their fingers because they don’t care about consequences – probably because there are none. Actions and words from them now would shock my parents. If a president can get away with it, why not them? The behavior in public even shocks me sometimes. What do you think?

I bought a useful product about 15 years ago. It has served me well and now it’s given up the ghost, as my mom used to say, which actually doesn’t make any sense. If you’re no longer useful/alive, wouldn’t you turn into the ghost? The product is a handheld Dyson vacuum. It worked great, lots of suction and lightweight but strong. Somehow the main compartment where it connects to the motor, cracked so the seal is broken. I’m so sad but I guess everything has a shelf life.

As far as the ghost phrase is concerned, some say it means giving up your spirit when you take your last breath.

Red, red, you go to my head

But blue, so true,

I think I have read

Too many sad stories

Now it’s time for sun

Sunny yellow, look what you’ve done

You’ve turned my woes into ideas

So let me make it perfectly clear

In black print overlay, edges green

The black print very pristine

With purple and maybe pink

I’ll give that a think

Flowers, yes posies that open up in the bright

And brown and beige, also white

And never forget the bright orange glow

That fills my room in a sunset show

Truly spectacular, you’ll agree

Mother Nature wants to be seen.

“Wanna wrestle for it?” The big bully had Joe’s English paper in hand. The bully was always considered weird, but this was just mean. Joe spent hours writing that paper and now this guy was gonna take it!

“If you hand it over, I’ll help you guys write yours..”

The bully’s friends decided that was a great idea since all of their scores had to be good to pass this year. Problem solved.

Three Things Challenge #MM457

Fandango’s Story Starter

It had been a great night and he was in no mood to get on that plane to fly home. His dog Job was the only thing waiting for him there, and she, well, she was here. He looked around and never saw her. He finally boarded the plane, disappointed. She was standing in the airport cafe, watching him. She felt the pull to run to him, but that was fleeting. She had dipped into this fantasy before and came out damaged. Yes, he seemed perfect, but so did the other prince.

I knew it would happen sooner or later, the whole “let yourself go” thing. They had begged, cajoled, threatened and even yelled that I could not keep it from happening. Instead, I ignored them, all of their warnings trying to frighten me. At least it felt like that…not really concern, but envy, maybe? Envious that I had not yet succumbed to it. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, honestly, I don’t. It’s just that I’ve seen too many wild personalities tamed, fantastic ideas stripped and used by others – others who had not given up, or in, maybe both.

Walking on the beach this morning, I suddenly felt weak, as if my brain decided to take the day off. I just sat down on the sand and cried.
