The Sunday Whirl

The beam of sunlight created shadows on the table cover, showing the myriad of lists she complied. Meandering through the rooms, peering into secret hollows, she was looking for clues. In Mark’s room she found a box of odd tricks he gathered from magic shops and decided that would steer her in the perfect direction for his gift. Every holiday season she made the lists, not counting on the gods to help, she scoured every room and plunged into the work of finding the very best gift for each child. She also decided on separate paper and trims for each individual’s taste. Gifts were her specialty from lists started the first day of the new year.

Shakespeare in the Park

The crown of the play’s junket was the twilight performance in the open park setting in New York. The Shakespearean farce “Comedy of Errors”—a delightful show in which well known celebrities perform.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “clown.” Use it as a noun or a verb; use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Fun? Fun? I hate clowns and even the “nice” ones give me the creeps…

I have a great friend who dresses up as a clown to entertain in homes for the elderly. I joined her once but dressed as an overdone opera performer, but I digress. I’m not sure where this fear originated but definitely was amped up reading Stephen King’s “It” when it was published in 1986. I think it is the scariest book I ever read and the original movie? No thanks!

Nope, not even a clown emoji😱

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Putting My Feet in the Dirt 2 by rugby843, June 27, 2028

🕺🏻

Jerry was a dancer

When he heard music,

At least dreamed he was

Always stopped to pause

For a tap or slide with a soft shoe

That’s when everyone knew

Jerry was in a world of his own

When all of his seeds of dance were sown

He’d frequent the discos very well rehearsed

Asked ladies to dance with a cheery verse

They liked to join him to dance in a jiffy

All thinking he was spastically spiffy

His manner of dance sometimes seemed odd

With unusual movements he made with his bod.

Mind Escape

Is it time to turn away from the vast media chatterbox, and stop engaging in their games; the ugly pantomime promoting discontent? Concise truths cannot be expected, even from the highest hill, and we fall prey to those pushed buttons in our minds. Why not try an escape, take flight from the everyday hovering over us and take yourself even through imagination, to a beautiful surround like the one below?

“I see it’s still standing,” smiling as he recalls days of gathering here. He and his fellow soldiers were on leave—tired, hungry and ready for a bit of home.

Joe pulled his wife of forty years close to him and looked down into her eyes. “Those three days, and meeting you that night, was the beginning of a beautiful life.”
