“He promised, he always promised. It was his way of justifying his actions.” This was the excuse the accused gave.

I sat in the whizzing train, trying not to see the image on my computer screen. It was bloody, indicated by the red dripping from a chainsaw next to the body. Being in the army overseas, I had seen worse and witnessed worse. I put on the headphones to listen to my sergeant’s report of the crime. He was saying there was evidence a woman had done it, as perfume was strong on the victim’s clothing.

A rather large woman bystander was sobbing, getting the police’s attention. Investigating, the sergeant smelled the same perfume on her. The sun shining on her coat revealing red stains furthered his interest. He put her in handcuffs and announced “I think we’re done here”, allowing the forensics team to finish up on the scene.

Lucky Dip – Saturday Mix, 6 January 2024

A little rant here…

Three years, count ‘em! Three long years since another day of historic infamy and perpetrator number one is running for president! It’s unbelievable—where is the justice? Certainly not in our farce of a Supreme Court and congress that wouldn’t be capitalized if the app let me. Sometimes I think I’m in an alternative universe but there’s no Dr. Strange to help me. It is incredulous, inconceivable, dumbfounding, mind boggling, insane, ludicrous, unfathomable, unprecedented, and outrageous!😡

JJJ 6 SoCS

Just do it – a mantra for our girls’ bb team this morning, after two night games in a row and doing amazing!! They were tired this morning and lost. They play again at three, MST time. I hope they get their gumption back and not be discouraged. It would help if they had Snape in the audience with his magic finger so balls go in instead of around the basket rim😂. My granddaughter plays the whole game as Point Guard.

❤️I’m so proud of her!❤️

JJJ – 5 – Penultimate

Congratulations Linda on ten years of providing all the great prompts!🥳

Arguments are sometimes just for fun

Most families have at least one

Person who always gets the last word

A penultimate barb always heard

I think it starts as a child

With intentions meant to be mild.

**I have to “tell” on my little granddaughter when many years ago we were all cleaning house for her mom and she just left the room saying: “I was not meant for housework”. What do you say to that from a tiny mouth?😳😂🙄

Jump back to…

Reading books to my three kids which was one of my very favorite things to do! This book still comes right up to the front of my brain when I have a morning like today😳. It started at 4AM, and it is now 7:46AM.

Details are of the personal variety and you’ll thank me for not divulging. But it’s coffee time now😵‍💫.

So how’s your day going?

W3 – My State

Please write a contemporary poem inspired by Robbie Burns, choosing from his three themes of Love, Nature and the Human Condition. (You may blend the themes—as in The Banks O’Doon, where Burns combines both love and nature).

The cowboy state as he recalled

Supposedly “equality state” for all

A misnomer as I disagree

Where white is the thing to be

Plains abound with resource spoils

Coal and dirt bound with oil

A jealous tick I think you’ll see

As—Colorado love is always seen

But Wyoming mountains hold a sheen

Cowboys, rodeos, high school sports’ teams

Rule the small town parent’s dream

If you visit, choose Jackson Hole

It plays the most charming role.
