Cellpic Sunday – Fueling the Cruise Ship
Welcome to the Saturday Mix – Story Starter, 20 April 2024!
You will be given a sentence to start off your response. It is your choice whether you write using poetry or prose.
Your story starter for this week is:
There was no way he was doing it. And that was that…and he put his foot down, hard! That was before he looked where he was putting his foot, but soon realized, as the odiferous dog leavings made their presence known. It was typical Tom behavior, and no one seemed surprised. Their friends started leaving quickly and when they were all gone, his wife said, “well that’s another fine mess you’ve gotten me into”, quoting Hardy of the Laurel and Hardy comedy team. Tom sidled off to the grassy lawn and tried to clean his shoe. All the while his wife was smiling triumphantly.

Story Starter – Saturday Mix, 20 April 2024

Three policemen, each with his own motives and obsessions, tackle the corruption surrounding an unsolved murder at a downtown Los Angeles coffee shop in the early 1950s. Detective Lieutenant Exley (Guy Pearce), the son of a murdered detective, is out to avenge his father’s killing. The ex-partner of Officer White (Russell Crowe), implicated in a scandal rooted out by Exley, was one of the victims. Sergeant Vincennes (Kevin Spacey) feeds classified information to a tabloid magnate (Danny DeVito).
Saturday night a great time to watch this movie👍🏻. And it’s free!☺️

Weekend Writing Prompt #360 – Expire

I’m usually a regular kind of fellow
Leading an ordinary life, I’m pretty mellow
Then things happened and my body said whoa!
You think you’re in charge but the answer is no
I sat long and complained for days in a row
Till along came relief in a Caramello!

“This is a critical time right now, a critical time on the world stage. I can make a selfish decision and do something that’s different but I’m doing here what I believe to be the right thing.
I think providing lethal aid to Ukraine right now is critically important. I really do. I really do believe the intel and the briefings that we’ve gotten. I believe Xi, Vladimir Putin and Iran really are an axis of evil. I think they’re in coordination on it.
So I think that Vladimir Putin would continue to march through Europe if he were allowed. I think he might go to the Balkans next. I think he might have a showdown with Poland or one of our NATO allies.
To put it bluntly, I would rather send bullets to Ukraine than American boys. My son is going to begin in the Naval Academy this fall. This is a live-fire exercise for me as it is so many American families. This is not a game, this is not a joke.”
Speaker of the House Johnson👍🏻

As I emigrate from rehab and migrate to a car
Trying to integrate progress made so far
Lift my casted leg as heavy as cement
Wincing as it deflagrates, of course the harm not meant
I’m rethinking my stellar recovery as below par.
Now having completed half of Linda’s request
I concede this stream not overgreat and take a rest.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS April 20, 2024
Before we dig into any of the individual justices’ views on this case, it’s helpful to be familiar with the full text of the statute at issue in Fischer. It provides that:
(c) Whoever corruptly—
(1) alters, destroys, mutilates, or conceals a record, document, or other object, or attempts to do so, with the intent to impair the object’s integrity or availability for use in an official proceeding; or
(2) otherwise obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding, or attempts to do so,
shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.
Green’s primary argument is that subsection (1)’s language referring to records or documents carries through to subsection (2). So even though subsection (2) is written broadly to bar any effort to obstruct, influence, or impede an official proceeding, it should be limited to only apply to obstructions involving documents or other forms of “evidence tampering.””

This lawyer cannot have his cake and eat it too!
It seems pretty clear to me that the insurrection on January 6th clearly qualifies and why the
(🥴Supreme😳Court🙄) has a problem deciphering that which even a first grade child could, is a worrisome thought. This group of judges is so biased a first grader could see that too!
We are in big trouble, people.
Your three words today are: EXIT ENTER MERGE

Jeff saw the exit, decided to merge
Into the crowd that seemed on the verge
Of squeezing through the rather small door
He turned around and then saw signs on the floor
Arrows pointing in all directions
Labels smudged for important sections
Jeff decided to walk back
To the enter door and backtrack.
