A shadow started to play on the speech writer’s papers. Her rapport with the candidate, Joan, was visible where they agreed on most issues, such as free speech, especially now. The constituent’s chants were growing louder, as they waited for Joan to appear. A sign was held up accusing Joan of some illicit act, and you’d think the person had no shame in doing so. Joan was used to these minor attacks, and didn’t choose to let them crush her enthusiasm. She was new to the political game, but had the option to engage such opposition with facts instead of criticism.

Here are this week’s questions:
1. Do you like decorating or would you prefer to have someone come in and do it for you if you could afford it? I do my own decorating, always have. It’s like my writing, I like to do my own thing😳
2. Do you prefer papered or painted walls in your home? Ive had both but painting is definitely easier. Our first attempt at wallpaper was in 1972 in a small bathroom…striped wallpaper—never a good choice on an older home. There ended up being a divot in the floor made by my frustrated husband using a metal measuring device. My explanation is he was an engineer😂
3. Where do you go when you want to be alone or have some quality Me Time? I am alone most of the time, living alone, my time is my own, which is mostly a good thing.
4. If you buy a treat for yourself (say a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine) do you like to share? I rarely buy anything like a treat unless it’s a lasagna dinner at Olive Garden. I have an addictive personality, and especially like boxes of chocolates🤤so never buy them.
Gratitude: This morning I am grateful my granddaughter (who is turning 18 on the 12th, called and asked what was I doing at 2:30 today? I replied, seeing you? I can’t wait!❤️

Just a question to bloggers here at WP…how to get rid of the code editor that keeps popping up, distorting my text and covering any new text I want to write? So frustrating! And while I’m complaining, WP…how about removing those disgusting ads? I don’t mind an ad or two, but for Pete’s sake choose ones that don’t want to make me vomit!

“The series follows the titular Captain Joe Ledger, a former Army Ranger and Baltimore police detective. Joe is hired by a clandestine, investigative agency known as the Department of Military Sciences (DMS). The DMS is a shadow agency formed for the purpose of pursuing technologically advanced threats to the US and the world at large by terrorists. Threats encountered throughout the series range from designer pathogens that create zombies to transgenics used for ethnic cleansing.” Wikipedia
One of the reasons I love the characters the way Maberry writes them, is how he includes humor in dire situations. The first in the series, “Patient Zero” I didn’t even read until I had read some of the others, because I’m not into zombies, but if you decide to start this series, I recommend starting with Patient Zero.☺️
Stacking The Shelves (August 8, 2024) 📚📚

Shane shrugged in the near dark, her cream hued wings folded back. Only feeling unfathomable despair as flickering firelight lit up the scene—a silent witness to the broken bodies of two cunning demons. Earlier that day, Shane realized the gloaming in the clouds formed a message, an omen of evil coming. Still undone from the battle, all at once heat of the fire grew more intense and the flames leapt out and consumed the demon bodies. Shane thought this might be her own fate, but instead the flames provided an end to the evil foretold. Only deep black shadows remained and even they would disappear in dawn’s light.

August a relief from hot July
Then I think a while and sigh
Almost time for school to start
Which means the children part.
Remembering my own days of old
After freedom in summer’s gold
I could even smell the scent
Of paper, loved what it meant
Looked forward to school recharging
Even when playtime was departing
School to me was an adventure
Where learning new things was the center.
