Share Your World: 2nd June

Did you know dVerse created the quadrille form? A quadrille is a poem of exactly 44 words, sans title. It may or may not have a rhyme scheme…..actually, there is no required format except that it be a poem (not prose) of exactly 44 words, sans title. But there is ONE HITCH! You must include the word provided by the pubtender of the day, within the body of the poem.
So….without further ado, I am the pubtender today and the word you must include within the body of your poem is …. SUNRISE.

. . . the sun’ll come up . . .

I am a diehard fan of actor Jeremy Renner so I was waiting for his book, “My Next Breath” to come to audible. I have just finished it and I can say it was interesting, how he got through his accident and survival. I found some of it repetitive, but enjoyed it still.
I started following Renner’s film career back in 2005 with the film, NeoNed. His acting performance in this movie made me look for more of his work after I fell in love with this flawed character. Naturally I was anxious to see if he had recovered well and “My Next Breath” fills me in.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (June 2, 2025) 📚📚
These past three weeks I have been out of pocket and apologize to my blog friends. I was ill, ended up in the hospital for a week (not fun at all) and now trying to recuperate to have some tests done to see why I was ill. All along these days, my daughter was working and keeping up with the end of soccer for one daughter’s senior year and another daughter’s college graduation in New Mexico, and all the activities that occur in these three weeks while ferrying me to appointments, etc. My younger granddaughter graduated on Friday and will make a trip to Spearfish, SD for college orientation at Black Hills State University. My other granddaughter graduated college in NM. You can imagine all the busyness we have had this month. So I had to delete almost a thousand emails and today I am trying to get back on the horse. Thanks for your good wishes.☺️

My four year old,. wearing my silk slip, came into the living room trying to be a vamp, like Theda Bara, and I’ll never forget the look on my husband’s face! I think we’re letting her watch too many old movies with us…

“Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It’s that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that’s what the poet does.”

Everyone said my husband, a teacher, had a short fuse. I realized that soon enough. We were traveling as chaperones with a group of six year olds to a dinosaur museum. Two industrious children decided to scale the Tyrannosaurus’ tale, causing the entire exhibit to fall. A sprained arm and a few scrapes were attended by the museum’s staff. On our return trip to the school, my husband couldn’t hold his temper any longer – the fuse had been lit.

“What are you doing with that lantern in the basement? Don’t you know that’s a fire hazard?” Liza set down the lantern abruptly, aiming for the window sill but missed and it descended on the crooked hollow of the old fireplace, which was only a narrow glimmer in the basement room. Slowly, her dad picked up the light, now showing only a faintly bit of Illumination. There’s dangers everywhere in this old room. Piles of newspapers, and books. We must get down here and clean it out. Liza planned to flee with her friends when that day came.

Waiting in snowfall for you
Such brightness peeking through

#TankaTuesday Poetry Challenge No. 14, 27th May 2025

Family members sacrificed and will be remembered not just on this day. I think it is sad and important to have this day because especially now, when our president is full of egregious remarks, and threats to our military.
