Friday Fictioneers

The floor was so slick I thought my suitcase was going to roll down the hall without me. Other than that, I like the look of the new modern train. It’s only going to be a short trip and it’s going to be fast, but I can’t wait to see my family. I’ve been away for six months and that is way too long to be by myself. I say by myself, but of course I never did have a minute to myself. My book is selling like hotcakes and now they want to make a movie from it.

Still the hidden specter

Still that familiar voice

Still those friendly feelings

Or should I rejoice?

I find your presence upsetting

Why after years, you’re here

I feel you next to me

It causes me a fear

Time passing is reminding

Is it when I join you, finding

My loss of love and companion

Please still your presence

Oh spirit of my mind

Or are you being kind?

Still all that you remind.

W3 Prompt #162: Wea’ve Written Weekly

Moonwashed Musings

***

My impulsive nature shown in a black evening gown

My quiet, subtle reputation already renown

The widened eyes of many guests saw my dress’s plaiting

And I found their surprise was intoxicating

My usual shyness in a summer flowered dress

Was undone, I shocked them when the black folds covered less

All in all I think my husband was impressed

And that night, I was pleased, as he seemed obsessed.

Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – June 3, 2025

The Writer’s Workshop

I chose number five.

Some small stuff I worry about is: Is my house clean enough or do I need to dust again? ( I live in a dry dust filled climate). Is my eye makeup leaving rings under my eyes? Is it too much or not enough? Is my hair, general appearance okay? Are my friends really okay with what I choose to say in political discussions (I live in red WY). These are some things I worry about but really, it’s all very personal to reveal here😀😵‍💫

This Week’s Writer’s Workshop Prompts – May 29, 2025

NTT – Happy you’re back☺️✌🏻

(I couldn’t resist…)

Finally he got what he wanted – a crown. It only took a few moments before Elon left the office for good. Trump decided he would also use the secret formulas that Musk had developed with his entourage. He creeped into the oval office and stood in front of this huge mirror, all with the gold trim and drank the potion. It only took about 10 minutes and he was transformed. He was now a big, beautiful, he-man figure. It even came with a crown! When his press secretary entered the oval office, he held up the crown to show her that he finally, truly was a king.

A sultry day in the month of May

Sisters delight in the ocean waves

Long, beautiful hair released from wraps

Conversation lessens with maybe a nap

Outstretched on the sand, their swimming done

Watching a sailboat that floats in the sun

A far away lighthouse shows the way

When clouds turn dark on sailboat shades

The sisters three gather their things

Beach day is done as a dinner bell rings.

I always thought of Joe as a friend. He was such a quiet man, lived alone, and did good deeds whenever he could. Many neighborhood people would joke behind his back. One day he delivered a letter to me, and I could see that he was struggling with his house keys when he returned home. I walked over to try to help him, and he suddenly he got very upset with me. “I’m not helpless, I can do this by myself.”

I was surprised that he seemed upset with me for trying to help him, but I just returned to my home. I decided to make a pie and take it over to him just to be friendly. I am so glad that I did because when he opened the door and I looked inside I saw that he was a hoarder. Of course this was perfectly legal, but seemed to be crowding him terribly. There was hardly any room for him to come to the door. “I hope you don’t think I am intruding, but can I help you with all of these newspapers?” He didn’t answer and quickly shut the door, taking the pie.

I told the local pastor what was happening and thought maybe he could organize some of the neighbors to help him rid his home of the hoarded items. The pastor has not yet decided if that’s a good idea. I guess I should mind my own business.
