Get to Know You #53

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

No one had been down the overgrown path for years, yet…two ten year old boys were not aware of that fact. Joe and Jack were just riding their bikes and got off on the wrong track. They were so busy talking over their school day, suddenly they looked around and decided they had no idea where they were. Looking back saw nothing familiar and the path behind them had disappeared. The path laid out in front of them was ominous. The trees seemed to be closing in. They couldn’t see even twenty feet in front of them. The two boys looked at each other nervously. Joe reached into his backpack to get the phone his mother always insisted he take when he and Jack were on their adventures. This adventure was starting to scare them, and Joe decided to call his mother for help. The phone was not working. There was no cell service in that area. They must have traveled much further than they thought. Jack said not to panic and looked in his backpack for his compass and some snacks and water. They decided to sit down and rest a minute and figure out what had happened. Jack always came prepared and he knew his directions. He knew that they had come east from their neighborhood on the path. Apparently they had gotten into the Dark Woods road instead of someplace they knew. Jack said if they got back on their bikes and headed back the way they came, they would find home. He was certain that if they kept peddling west the path would show up and it did. The boys kept this little adventure to themselves.

The prompts, which I ignored, were:

  1. again, again, and again
  2. buying books
  3. Christmas is gone, but we have the memories

***

Again, again, and again. That’s what I thought when I saw her buying books… again. She always received books for Christmas gifts so that her closet was completely full, all of her bookcases were completely full, and every corner of her room was completely full, of books! If she wasn’t buying books, she was reading books. Oh well. Now that she’s moved out it’s her roommate’s worry. Even though I never liked trying to clean around her piles and piles of books. I miss her.

One Liner Wednesday

I don’t understand all the texts I get from doctors from epic from hospitals to remind me over and over again, and I always have to write back to them that I have a calendar and I know. I get at least three reminders and have to check in repeatedly for appointments, etc. all of my information and all of the medication‘s that I’m taking do not change from one day to another. I finally just had to text back stop. And what’s up with these computers that control all this information and for some reason a human being cannot change that information . Mind-boggling 😵‍💫

This week’s questions arose following the funeral of my Aunt who celebrated her 100th birthday last June. They are not intended to offend or upset anyone, but please accept my apologies if they appear insensitive.

  1.  Do you have a bucket list? No
  2.  Cremation or burial? Cremation
  3.  Recognised service/celebration of life, or private gathering? None I hope
  4.  Flowers or donations?Gratitude:My Aunt was a lovely woman. She lived a long life and before her passing, there were five living generations in her family line, the same as with my Mum.
I am grateful that so many people thought so highly of her and were able to pay their last respects on the 23rd

My gratitude this week is to my wound care nurse, Nicole, who visits me every day to insure I’m keeping healthy, etc. Nurses deserve way more credit than they are given.❤️

“That’s just beastly” Heather announced when she saw her little brother shoving sea stars into a bell jar. He had taken a sharp blade and cut off some of their arms to fit them in. Heather felt sick, and wondered how he could do such a thing and then remembered he had been watching some videos and was mimicking what he had seen. “Put that down and go sit up on those sand hills, you are done playing today!” Later on she saw him just gazing out to sea and thought she would try to soothe him by talking about what happened. Usually a timid boy, Heather decided to turn off his access to such video content, but explain why.
