I think he’s the best one I had
He took me fishing
And I was wishing
Hope he stays, cause he isn’t bad!

Laughing Along With A Limerick

Charlie scuffed the sand to cover a crab walking along the water’s edge. It was early morning and every day he took a walk on the beach to clear his head from the last night’s dreams. Charlie admired the surfers in their wet suits to keep warm in the water while waiting for that next big wave. He had tried it but couldn’t stay up on the board and finally gave up.
Charlie’s life was like that. Try and fail repeating and his dreams reflected those thoughts. That is why he’s here, every morning, determined to try again. He wished he could fly carefree as the gulls did. But his own thoughts betrayed him, thinking, “I have no skills for flight or wings to skim the waves effortlessly, like the wind itself.” Charlie will try again and maybe this time – success.

Prosery: Ada Limón

It was a little past midnight. She was watching him, the way his body moved, and wondered if an impromptu meeting would cause him to think badly of her. The morning came too quickly and sounds of their short affair were around, echoed in their brief passion. She tried to reach over and touch him again, but he was gone. She will always remember him and their love making.

It used to be you could walk down the street and if you behaved yourself no one bothered you. You certainly were not handcuffed and thrown into a police car. Now you can be strolling with your children, maybe an infant in your arms, and can be accosted like that. The “authorities” dressed in jeans and a polo shirt, rags covering their faces and yelling get in the car. There is no uniform showing they are part of an authority’s office. And there’s no warrant!

Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

“The serpent beasts rose up in the mist from the underworld.” That is how the old storytellers explained it. There were even books of maps showing the realms of monsters and saints. Their part of the world stood out as a bright emerald land where the voices of evil hoods were not tolerated. The old man continued his remembrance of years gone by.

I really don’t have a favorite place. Seems I’m not comfortable anywhere. But I do love sharing time with family.

OLWG#417- Goin’ Home to Greta

It was supposed to be a joke between us performers at the arcade. Jerry showed up and asked us to wear these costumes. Standing in a row we resembled a cartoon caterpillar. Then the show began and all of a sudden music came on and we tried to do the dance steps we were told to do. A funny feeling as our costumes were quickly stretched up by a huge colorful disk and our feet couldn’t touch the floor! As the disk rotated we were whirled around like a carnival ride. That’s the last time we take gigs from Jerry!
