FOWC: Kingpin

The Marvel character Kingpin was recently, excellently played by Vincent D’Onofrio. I have been a fan of his for a long time. I was very impressed with his portrayal of a homicide detective in “Law and Order, Criminal Intent” and was sad to see him go. He is definitely worth watching in any roll.

FOWC: Firewall

Photo from US News and World Report

The world needs a firewall

Really big, protecting all

Yes you heard me, build a wall

Similar to the president’s call

This one would cause no brawl

Only raise the president’s gall

Around the Whitehouse it would sprawl

Protecting the world from his maul

Perfect, let’s build this wall

And happiness for the world befalls.

NATO Phonetic Alphabet Plus

When the IT tech came to fix my router, I received a new address for Century Link. Since it was long, he asked if I wanted him to read it to me. I said yes. He then said, “3, foxtrot, 4….. ” I said wait a minute. I worked for the military but I never used those words. Of course he laughed and used the regular alphabet.

Apparently, my email address is hard to understand on the phone, so next time I’ll try this phonetic alphabet. That probably won’t work either. Being the curious sort, had to look it up. Radio chatter among the military is interesting too. We’ve all heard, “copy that, roger,” etc. but there are some hilarious ones I probably should not repeat here. Oh well, when did that ever stop me😂. Two rated R I thought humorous are at the bottom of this post.

“The 26 code words in the NATO phonetic alphabet are assigned to the 26 letters of the English alphabet in alphabetical order as follows: Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliett, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-ray, Yankee, Zulu.”

In case you’re ever in a real life horror movie situation and need to use Morse code, here it is:

I hope no one is offended, if so, sorry. I think a lot of these terms are funny.

FFF Challenge#21

“I’ve assembled everything you asked for, doctor. Are you satisfied?”

“Yes, Igor, completely. Now all we need is a. . .subject.”

“Someone worthy of your experiment, doctor?”

“Yes. . .worthy. . .much more important than willing, Igor.”

“I understand doctor. I know from experience you are not easy to please,” wincing.

“Well then, be about your business! Some of these ingredients don’t last forever.”

Igor rushes out to the street. In these hard times, (victims) are easy to find. The promise of a few shillings would do. Coming upon a ragged man in an obvious stupor, persuaded him to go back to the doctor’s rooms. That evening a frightened sober vagrant found himself strapped to a wooden table. Igor and the doctor stood over him. The doctor stated the obvious fact: “This may sting a little. ”
