I am a widow since 2013 and live by myself in a small apartment. I use a wheelchair to get around, but I wouldn't consider myself disabled. I'm 11 years away from having bladder cancer resulting in a urostomy and I'm doing well. This cancer was a result of having radiation in 1995 because of uterine cancer. So have faith in yourself, a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. My first try at blogging was an attempt to help other people with my condition. I am a mother of three married children, and a grandmother to eight gorgeous kids, featuring them often here, and a great grandmother to two as of today, 6/7/25! I enjoy exploring my feelings and like to try the challenges. I like humor, music, movies, games, and some sports. I absolutely appreciate your reading and commenting on my blog. I am happy to read all of your blogs and learn more about you. Please comment however you like, ask whatever, and I'll answer honestly. Thanks for reading! Cheryl
True story, happened yesterday afternoon. Rolling up to the lobby, ready in my warm sweater, to switch into a transport van for a doctorβs appointment. I make no apology for trying to look my best, hair and makeup done including lipstick – need my lips colored, otherwise Iβm too pale. The maintenance man was sitting in his exclusive perch, started to rave about my lips. No verse but statements. Others there, embarrassing!
All she wanted was a Psychedelic Party, nothing much except music, friends, dancing and a cake and ice cream. βThatβs not so much to ask her grandmother chimed in. I remember having a party like that years ago. Harmony, your mother chose Poppy and Indigo for her childrenβs names so itβs all good. Oh my, I think I may have a few albums from those days that we could play on your record player.β The plans came together quickly as the women in the family all coordinated the party. Harmonyβs 16th birthday party was a success.
Games are played by the highest ranking person in our government. How else can you explain the actions of a deranged child mind that sits in a crumbling white house? Moving pieces on the board without conscience as a three year old would. Time is up Trumpie.
Sheβd only given in because she was lonely. Betty donned her hiking boots, grabbed her coat and backpack and grudgingly joined Joe on the trail. This camping trip was supposed to be cathartic, but so far it was one big bore. There werenβt even sβmores at the nightly campfires. She liked Joe okay but he was too quiet. Once the two were away from the camp a couple of miles, Joe said letβs take a break. Sitting on the cliff edge, he admitted he just wanted to talk. He told Betty about his home life and she was surprised to think how much it mirrored her own. They spent longer than they thought just talking and when they returned it was supper time. Betty knew she had made a new friend and that the camping trip was worth it. However, still no sβmores!
1. Would you consider yourself easy going? More so now that Iβm older. I used to be a itβs either black or white person. But now I realize thatβs not right.
2. Are you comfortable talking to a group of strangers at a social gathering? Yes, in fact I like meeting people.
3. What are three things about people that annoy you? Refusal to accept people that donβt look like you. Criticizing everything. Lying.
4. What do you do to cheer yourself up when youβre feeling down in the dumps? I try and lately itβs not easy, but I try to look at pictures of my family and they always make me smile.
Gratitude: I just sent a note to one of my grandsons reminiscing about him and meals we used to make together, since I was making one of them that night. Iβm so grateful for my family.
