I am a widow since 2013 and live by myself in a small apartment. I use a wheelchair to get around, but I wouldn't consider myself disabled. I'm 11 years away from having bladder cancer resulting in a urostomy and I'm doing well. This cancer was a result of having radiation in 1995 because of uterine cancer. So have faith in yourself, a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. My first try at blogging was an attempt to help other people with my condition. I am a mother of three married children, and a grandmother to eight gorgeous kids, featuring them often here, and a great grandmother to two as of today, 6/7/25! I enjoy exploring my feelings and like to try the challenges. I like humor, music, movies, games, and some sports. I absolutely appreciate your reading and commenting on my blog. I am happy to read all of your blogs and learn more about you. Please comment however you like, ask whatever, and I'll answer honestly. Thanks for reading! Cheryl

TLC – A Writer

The grouchy writer’s stamina was waning after a second night of too much to drink. The mundane task of a weekly column was interfering with his vision of becoming an author. The mix of alcohol and lack of ambition were certainly not helping to accomplish his goal.

Every time he looked at his reading desk holding copies of his brother’s books, Joe thought they were haunting him. How could he be related to such a talent? Was he ready to give up the dream of also becoming a great storyteller?

Joe slunk down into the oversized leather desk chair and woefully started typing again: Column Headline: “Mrs. Brown’s dog saved her life again!”

I’m certainly a lucky one

With helpers to get done

Little things like driving me

Wherever I should ask to be

Sweet personality is required

And ability to never tire

From requests from someone old—

A family made of gold.

Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge

Eight superman dressed ten year olds entered the haunted house

Everyone hid timidity, though scared as a small mouse

A venture on the hallowed eve.

No one knew what they’d receive

It was Joe’s turn to be first in case a sacrifice was needed

The creaky door filled their hearts with fright, of course never heeded

Joe pushed through ancient spiderwebs, his cape used as a shield

And the others trooped behind him, and their capes also weild

But no skeletons did they find, but one old lonely lady

She looked welcoming and surprised and was sitting at a table

“Oh my grandchildren have arrived, I’m so glad you came for tea!”

The boys were realizing what they found and sat down with relief

The lesson here an old one, don’t judge a book by its cover

The old woman needed friends and that’s who they discovered.
